Acorn Woodpecker Granary Trees

I had a 2x4 - 10' leaning against the house that I had forgot about. I kept hearing a woodpecker hammering the side of the house at different times. finally I went outside to where I thought it was; Nothing. Then I passed by the 2x4 with hole after hole in it. I took it and threw it into the scrap pile and never heard the woodpecker again. The odd part is that the noise originated at the end of the house and the 2x4 was almost at the other end.

Hilarious that the woodpeckers were using a single 2x4!!! Odd about the sound! Did they ever try to use any part of your house?

@ABirdingNaturalist Not that I could tell. I think I know what it was after tho. A couple of carpenter bee holes were on the reverse side.

@@WiPri0371 Ah! That does make sense. Carpenter Bees are pretty cool animals, as well!
