What an amazing experience: so much learning & discovery when you build your own instrument. Thanks to AGMS for helping make this real. Insights:
anyone can do this (with a little guidance)
hand-made is slower & better
it's light and resonant and easy to play. Every note is clear and defined. A fingerpicking dream. There's a lovely mid-range sweetness.
More insights on my substack. Also thanks to the Team50 donors who contributed to this unique project.
The specs:
Sitka spruce top, Australian blackwood sides & back, bloodwood binding, African padauk fretboard, mahogany neck and river oak bridge.
AGMS 'Tasmanian' model (OOO equivalent)
falcate bracing
wide (48mm) neck & string spacing, 12" radius
Danish oil finish.
Do it - if you're serious about music - make something.

Also, don't mind my mistakes; I'm a bassplayer.
