This series is a tutorial on designing and modeling an acoustic guitar in Fusion 360. The guitar features a radiused top and bottom, a variable geometry fretboard, a variable headstock angle, and a variable heel angle. The model is highly detailed with over 90 external components.
Part 1 covers the parameter list used to model the guitar and the fretboard design and model.
Part 1a is a quick solution to radiused fret slots on exposed tangs
Part 1b is a fully parametric design change for radiused fret slots
Part 2 covers the design and model of the neck body and headstock.
Part 2a is some clarification on the neck and fretboard
Part 3 covers the design and model of the heel transition.
Part 4 covers the remaining details of the neck.
Part 5 covers the radiused top
Part 5a is a better way to sketch the top
Part 5b is a proof of concept on the geometry we created for the top and bottom
Part 6 covers the radiused bottom
Part 7 covers the sides and assembling the body
Future Parts will cover the design and model of all the body components and the assembly of all the components into a complete dreadnought guitar.
I have applied Austin Shaner’s @austinshaner videos on neck and fretboard design in this work. A valuable resource and I highly recommend his channel. In addition, his Discord server is an invaluable resource for anyone interested in guitar design in Fusion 360.

Interesting approach. As I watched this, I thought I'd create a series of offset planes at each fret location with a sketch of the projected fret board surface through the each plane. Then sweep a fret profile through each of these projected arcs. Either way, your approach looks great. Got a question about machining and building (forgive me, I'm not a guitar builder), on 3 axis router, you'll not be able to machine the bottom of fret channels perpendicular to the fret board surface. How critical is this? Thanks for taking the time putting this video together.

I see where you are going with that. Always more than one way to skin a cat, right? I'm not sure what you are saying about not being able to machine the bottom of the fret slots perpendicular to the fretboard surface. Are you saying it won't machine the radius? It will. I'll setup the CAM when I am back home and see if what you are trying to say clicks. But a 3d pocket will cut the radius.

@@palemoonranch A flat end endmill will climb and descend the slot in the Z axis leaving a slight fillet on slot corners. Probably not a problem because the bottom the frets will have a small fillet as well. I'm interested in seeing if Fusion's simulation will show this residue fillet from the slot operation with an flat end mill.
