Saturation is a really cool effect. Nothing like that distortion thing or overdrive thing. Great for replicating the tone of an electric guitar.

I’m in college for mechanical engineering too! I like electrical stuff, I just mechanics more because you can actually see the problems and touch them. I’m a visual and hands on learner. I came across this video because I love playing guitar.

The step of step at the end isn't sufficient?
@tedro7870
@tedro7870 4 жыл бұрын
@@DIYExperiments Not that it's insufficient, but for example I don't know why is the coil necessary, what gauge and how many turns you did and so on. But I found it elsewhere, your video was still a good intro to it :)
@DIYExperiments
@DIYExperiments 4 жыл бұрын
Ok, about that the rule is simple, the more turns there are, the best it is. The wire gage doesn't change anything (no current issues), small gage allow more turns in the same room but it's fragile.

Theres a big problem: you cannot mute the acoustic guitar. So when you play you have the acoustic guitar sound and the amplified 'electric guitar' sound together?? Please help
@mesenoth_
@mesenoth_ 5 жыл бұрын
if your amplifier has no distorsion or anything, the amplified sound is the natural sound of your guitar. So just turn down the distorsion or set it to 0 and set bas-mid-treble to the middle.

add a potentimeter (volume knob) between the pickup & the guitar cord jack. or you could buy a volume pedal and hook guitar to it & then hook it to your amp

lol cool, but "electric guitar sound" u mean distortion? that's just an effect, not the standard sound of any electric 😤😤😤😤
@DIYExperiments
@DIYExperiments 7 жыл бұрын
+The8-BitNerd : No, i mean saturation : it's an effect but it's also the base of the "electric sound" (distorsion is a generic term which include saturation). Saturation is easy to creat, easier than an Hi-Fi sound ! So in history it was the first and the main effect of the eGuitar ;)

i have a tiny mic with a 3.5mm jack. Meant for computer use. If i connect the 3.5mm jack into a 1/4 adaptor and then plug into a guitar amplifier, do you think it will work? instead of using a piezo or magnetic pickup, i am directly putting a tiny microphone in my guitar.

@guitarman_3693

if your mic contains an "electrect" mic capsule , they are for digital, like cell phones and head-sets , its possible it may not work without a preamp circut between it and the amp.

wrap some 42 guage enamel coated , copper magnet wire 1000 or as many times as you can . leave both ends hanging out 1 inch. scratch off enamel coating about 12mm on both wires( careful , delicate) run 2 wires from the guitar cord input jack terminals( posative & negative) to the 2 scratched ends and soldier. it doesnt matter which scratched end hook to pos. or neg. good luck

@justrockon426
@justrockon426 8 жыл бұрын
not too close, for the best sound the pickup must be about 1/2 inch from the strings when you are holding the strings at your highest frets (i.ex: 22nd). your 1 magnet pickup is something resembling a ceramic magnet pickup as opposed to individual magnet pickup poles as popular in the 60's and 70's (i"ex:Gibson PAF pickups). ceramic magnet pickups are more used in guitars targeting heavy metal players, guitar pickups like EMG and Gibson dirty finger pickups. both have advantages and disadvantages, for best clean it would be preferable to have alnico 1,2 or 3 pole magnets. anyhow the amount of wounds and magnet power, and their correlation are other variables that can make for a "superb" clean or any other of your taste preferences.
