Nice playing and Great demo. I have the MD-315. I really want the 815 it looks and sounds great. Thank you for all the vids and all that you do to help with knowledge of product choices.

I'm a guitarist and beginner mandolin player about to upgrade from a beginner mandolin to a proper instrument. Want to thank everyone involved with this channel for making great reviews and demos. You're a shop so of course the idea is to sell, but regardless you still provide the specs in a straightforward way and your playing comparisons are top notch.

You guys are just so likable….and I must say funny and talented to boot! Loved both of those mandolins but the 815 is TrueType special. Love the reddish color especially.

Thanks so much! I think the red looks awesome on these mandos too!

Nice picking. I just discovered that you post links to the playing part in the description, which is awesome, since many just want to hear the instruments

I have the 815 v and to me they sound the same..but I don't have much of an ear for these things. Another great domo.

Both the MD615 and MD815 sound amazing! I prefer the MD815 with the Adirondack Spruce, I have the MD805, the A style I bought from a retailer here in Canada last year, I just added a deer antler saddle from Jerry Rosa, I love the seemingly endless sound and tone I get from it. I think the next mandolin I get will be the MD815, thanks for the great videos.

Amazing that the Adirondack (Red) Spruce top makes a HUGE difference in the sound!

Great comparison! I love my 304 and 515, but I really love all that extra binding, for whatever reason.

The tone and sound of the 815 flows like melted butter. Every note was warm and precise. They are both great sounding and at a very good price point. I hope to get one when I sale my laying hens. Lol 😆 🤣

Great vid (THE BEST EVER) guys! As for which I would prefer, I'd definitely take the 815 over the 615, but I'd probably want the varnished version of the 815... 🙂
@AcousticShoppe Жыл бұрын
The varnished one is incredible!
@JJ_TheGreat10 ай бұрын
Does the varnish affect the tone of the sound at all? Thanks!
@voiksmusifan10 ай бұрын
The MD615 has more heights, but the MD815 seems to have much more thickness and mellowness in its sound. Maybe that's due to the pickguard dampening the top of the 615 a little bit? How about removing the pickguard? Did you try that?

Man, I love those fretboard inlaid bars, but I want the better woods in the 815. Why don't they put the bar inlays on the higher end 815?
@thefreese111 ай бұрын
I would still click that fretboard extension.... I dig deep.. bad habit I got from playing cheap mandolins and trying to get some sound out of them.... Choking up on the pick would help I guess but its its awful hard to retrain yourself after playing so long . It would be better to jst zip that extension plump off..lol

What does "MD" stand for? With the spy balloon over head, I can only think of "Mogan David" concord wine.

ManDolin. Eastman also has MDA MonDolAs and MDO Octave ManDolins.

Great playing as always. Average to slightly above average sound for student mandolins. There are better choices.. I would pay a little more coin for a better sounding instrument that can last as a student progresses..Go with a better sounding maker. think about an A model for a better price to sound ratio than what Eastman offers.

What makes would you recommend? Thanks.

@@JJ_TheGreat Probably not answering since Eastman are most often reviewed as the best value for mandolins right now. That and offering no alternatives that sound this good in the 2000 range.. because there really aren’t ’better choices’. I agree with going A style though since the scrolls and points add to cost and aesthetic, but not to sound. I’ve got a 315 F style now, but would prefer a higher end A style. I notice a considerable jump to the 815 here in this review. More open and richer overall sound. I didn’t know Adirondack have a higher compression threshold, that’s interesting, but the sound is just bigger without really being louder.
