This is awesome, the Sugar Shack is a beut, nice warm stain! That is A LOT of work to clear all out and to maneuver the whole Shack to the cabin but you will do it somehow for sure, hoping the rocks will not bother you! Just an idea for a good ventilation, maybe put a few inches holes (maybe 3 to make it pretty) under the gable of the roof on the other side by the door (with some net to make sure no insects are coming in), like this you got a good airflow through the Shack to the other side. But hey what do I know how this even functions, I never saw how Maple Sirup is made 😅 lol so glad I can learn new stuff from you both! So looking forward to see the next part, big hugs and take care you all! Much Love 💖

I can hardly believe everything Evan did to help grade the road for this. The landscape here is just incredibly wild and resilient. What you think is a small rock, turns out to be a massive boulder hidden by dirt, LOL! That's a really cool idea for the ventilation, thank you! Today was a very symbolic day to post this, because we tapped our very first trees today...and the sap is FLOWING! We are over the moon excited to share more

So much work just to get the Sugar Shack down to its spot! Truly a labor of love. Can't wait to watch her get moved down, I have a feeling it's going to be pretty epic!

I love seeing you guys working on the sugar shack! It's so cool to see how it is literally a dream come true for Evan to build this and make it all become a reality. Awesome job moving all that timber and earth, too... that is NOT an easy task with all the rocks and everything the New England soil loves to hide just beneath the surface!

If we didn't have the tractor we'd be SOL... And you're right, the ground here is about 90% boulders just sticking out of the surface that look like much smaller rocks at first! Literal tip of the iceberg!

I just finished watching every episode of your AT Thru Hike in about 10 days. I thru-hiked the AT in 2008 and I relived my hike through your videos. You are a great couple and did an equally great job of documenting and videoing your hike. Presently, I am trying to convince my wife that I need to thru hike it again this year, but she isn't buying into it. She was more than reluctant to agree to it in 2008 but she finally relented and gave me tons of support. I need to tell you that we have been married for 53 years this April. I will continue to follow your homestead videos as I am sure they will have some interesting and helpful content. My trail name is Kanati (The hunter in Cherokee, my mother's people). Thanks again and take care. btw, this account is in my son's name.

Hello friend Kanati! Thanks for reaching out. I must say, I can't believe you finished our whole journey in 10 days. That's a new record!! We are honored that you deemed our content binge-worthy. We sincerely hope that your wife comes around and lets you thru hike and have this amazing experience all over again. Even 15 years later, the trail is still calling your name! Our best wishes to you and your wife. 53 years is a great accomplishment! We hope to call ourselves part of that club, and still be able to hike the AT! Happy Trails and best of luck!!

I like that natural color you chose for the outside. Are there any concerns with a sugar shack attracting bears when in use ?

Luckily the bears will be in hibernation when we're boiling that sweet sweet syrup 😅
