Abbey bike tools are the green tools your were talking about. Hands down some of thr best and made in the USA. Park makes everything but they are far from the best. Most shop use a mix of Unior, VAR , Park, Pedro's and a few other manufacturers. Also alot of those park sockets are Chamferless which are used for suspension service or low profile fittings. I've got almost 20 years experience wrenching on bikes at the highest level. If you got any questions I'd be happy to help.

Surprisingly this didn't spark as much outrage as I would have thought. Well done! I would consider myself 'bike guy' and just wanted to point out a few things. The SRAM brakes you keep on calling 'CODA' are in fact just 'CODE' brakes. Used to be their top of the line stopper, but that has been taken over now by the Mavens. You are likely cutting your bars to in the 650mm - 750mm range. New uncut bars come in at 800mm and are designed to be cut down to a certain degree while keeping their flex and damping properties. You are right though, there is a maximum that they can be cut. I know metric is tough, but a 130mm bar would be about a 5" width bar. The larger Park sockets are designed with flat faces in order to not slip off the nuts on the top of your forks. You would want to keep those if you ever plan on opening up your fork (which I assume you wont). On the scale you were holding, the black cylinder that you had your hand wrapped around actually clamps into your Park stand so you can hang your bike from it. The name of the PPF kit you used on your Yeti was likely Invis or RideWrap. If you are saying you are 50% into the bike thing, then you can probably get rid of at least 50-75 %of the tools you received, likely more. If you are buying a hardtail, carbon is probably not the best material for you. Sure, if you are an XC racer and want something that is bone jarringly stiff, it might be the right choice. For most something made of steel (or for the big spenders titanium) often has a much more agreeable ride feel.

Oh man! I follow you since years ago when I loved detailing my car and you had all the cool stuff to do it. But traffic in Mexico City was a nightmare and my car was just parked in the garage, so I sold it 5 years ago and over the time I stoped watching car detailing videos, I have not seen a video from you in a long time. I got into bike commuting and quickly became obsessed with all related to bikes, and off course detailing and maintenance, and now I see you also have the dream bike garage! I am envious of you man!

My latest frame-up build was a Surly (Troll). Surly has quite the selection of off-the-wall options. It was the only company who made a frame that met my obscure MTB needs. Super fun to build if I could make a recommendation. But probably not your cup of tea if you're looking for a cookie cutter bike.

Park was never great with regular tools. But their selling point was speciality tools and the ability to buy an entire collection (as you can tell). There would never be a reason to use the Park stuff over some of your other tools. For Helen, having the complete set regardless of the quality would be good because you just buy it all once and it gets the job done for anyone who’s using the stuff. Chances are, in Helen, no one’s doing a full build or anything major.

Ask yourself, when have you ever seen him actually do any maintenance, and oil changes and tire rotations are just oil changes and tire rotations. A 12 year old can that. Wow, nice stuff! Perhaps I missed something already mentioned (I didn't watch the full video), but are you the one who is going to use those tools? I mean, it's strange to assume your bike knowledge if you're not even able to differentiate between Fox and RockShox forks. I'm also curious about the tools for reshaping the frame that you have there (FFG-2). I would love to see someone using those tools on a carbon frame. It's good to check, but carbon frames can't be "aligned" like metal frames. The non-beveled sockets are needed for forks, as they are flat to release the top caps. AbbetyTools will bring quite a bit more quality to some of the specific tools. For the bike stand, I fully recommend the "Feedback Sports" stand-it's a much more premium brand.

It cracks me up that people hate on Matt for buying complete sets of tools but don’t hate on other KZbinrs who spend a half million dollars on a crashed McLaren Senna which they will use to make money from their viewers on ads. Maybe it’s because these other KZbinrs pretend to part of The Poors while stashing piles of cash in the bank. One is being genuine, the other is using you. Maybe people prefer to be blind and be used.

Ok. I got about 5 min in and couldn’t continue. I’ve been working on bikes my whole life, and was a mechanic in college. This is too painful to watch. Might be really informative for those that have never wrenched a bike before. Not trying to be a jerk, but I like learning stuff from people that know a lot more than me, vs the other way around. I’m all for the detailing stuff, but bikes are much much more complicated. Guess I need to watch the guys that are 100% in on bikes. Oh, btw, the tire is backwards, and we don’t call it a “spoke alignment tool”. It’s either a dishing gauge, a truing stand, a spoke tension tool/meter, a spoke length gauge, spoke wrench or a nipple driver. Park tools are good and they have a full line, but how long will it be before Matt learns about brands like Abbey. Btw, Abbey either sponsored or help sponsor a series on KZbin 4-5 years ago where professional bike mechanics share their on the road portable tool boxes (kaizan foam might have been part of it as well). Maybe called something like “bike tool box wars” or something similar. Very interesting challenge.

I think people are so used to me sharing expertise and not a hobby. Bikes are a hobby to me. I approach it much more casually than other stuff in my life. I know enough to get me in trouble, but not enough to satisfy the experts looking to catch me slipping. The best part is that I don’t care what anyone thinks. I’m going to do it anyway.

Park Tool stuff is overpriced nonsense. You can get the exact same tools without the blue rubber handle for a fraction of the price. These days most bikes come apart with set of Allen keys some torx bits and whatever SRAM / Shimano special tools fit you bike. Most of this stuff will never get used.
