Seriously, is ur mom ex military? I was in the Army, in my twenties and my OCD served me well. I had no problem being ordered to roll my socks into 4” balls or hv my locker all “dress right dress”. I thought it was funny that my behavioral disorder made rigid details “an everyday thing -normal”. Thanks for all the work you and your Mom did. It’s funny cuz I hadn’t completely watched all of this video, as I wrote the first part , so… when your Mom showed her To Do list, I lol. I do that too❣️ When I am doing a complicated meal, with lots of components, I create a time line that runs backwards. I start with #1 when I want to serve or eat, then cook times for each item. I write a draft first so I can more easily pencil in the time line, adjusting along the process. Then, you can put each item onto a chronological ordered To Do list. I keep a Master Copy for future reference, when cooking large proteins like Prime Rib, Smoking a Pork Butt or cooking a whole Turkey. It all sounds kindda complicated, but for me it reduces a lot of stress and frustration. You only hv to figure it out one time, then those “directions” will guide any future efforts. Cooking for two or for 20 doesn’t have to be stressful, if you “try” to plan away the stressful parts. We aren’t born knowing how to cook, or clean, or garden. We hv to learn from our mistakes and keep the desire to try differently next time. 🙂

You should have your mom join you in your videos more often. She has so many great ideas and she is a very calming influence. Puts me at ease and helps me chill. Preparing and hosting a big dinner on can be very stressful, but it helps if you deep breathe from the diaphragm and slow down your delivery of speech and recognize that it will all get done regardless of whether you spin like a top in a frenzy or chill like a leader in charge who gets things done calmly and methodically.

I am the queen of lists and I bow down to your Mama’s organization skills!! This is a great video, I loved seeing you and your Mama working together to bless your families with a delicious feast! I do miss working in sync with my Mama, but I do so love working with my daughters! We each have our specialties that we bring to share. You were pondering why you only think to eat stuffing once a year…it’s so you have something special to look forward to! There are several dishes and desserts that we save for only Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love that one of my daughter’s MIL decided long ago to celebrate their holidays the weekend prior to holidays. I think she was really forward thinking in that most woman go to their Mama’s for holidays, so she enjoys her son’s families every year even if it is a week early! This has worked great for our kids’ Friendsgiving feasts, too. When my Mama passed away, my sisters and I had to figure out how to recreate her specialties. So, I have in my recipe notebook not only my recipes, shopping and ingredients all listed out, every year I make notes of what worked well, what didn’t, ideas to try next year and any tweaks done or ideas I want to remember for next year. And, not to be morbid, but should I leave this earth unexpectedly, I hope that my notes will be a comfort and a prompt for good memories of past years. Oh, and I am going to start charting timetables like your Mama does, too! Thanks for sharing!!

I think your mom did great on the video - first time I've seen her. I really like how organized you both are and that what you do makes so much sense. I think for as long as you choose to be a KZbinr, I will watch, primarily because I so appreciate that when something doesn't turn out just right, YOU STILL SHARE IT. I love that! Real home cooks have things that don't turn out perfectly and they get to learn from that. I mean, don't get me wrong...you get much more right and much more right than I do, but it was encouraging to see real life results. Makes me less fearful of trying. Thank you so much for sharing things like your rolls that are slightly less than spectacular.

I buy Stove top stuffing by the case from Costco. I get two cs which last me one year. I sauté celery, onion and garlic in the butter (amount recommended on the pkg). Add some poultry seasoning for that extra holiday flavoring. Then toss in bread crumbs and cook as directed. Every time we go to Costco or Sam’s Club, we get 1 or 2 rotisserie chickens. I always fix Stove Top and pull out cranberry sauce from the freezer or a can from the pantry. So yes, you can enjoy stuffing all year long. 🥰🥰

Thanks for bringing us with you while you cooked and baked with your mom. I'm away at graduate school right now really missing my own mama, and this gave me a little taste of that feeling of being home, cooking and chatting with her. Happy Thanksgiving

I love your mom popping in every times she needed to add something. That is like me when my hubby is on FaceTime with family or friends!!!

I loved how many things I gleaned from you & your mom sharing your information with us! Best was you sharing prayer. It immediately brought tears to my eyes. The world is changing at such a fast pace so, it is nice to see other brothers and sisters share their love in the Lord. Something we share in common. It is such a rare but treasured thing.

I loved watching you cook with your Mom! Until last year, we always did Thanksgiving with my family and Christmas with the Hubby’s. We always spent the whole weekend with Mom and Dad and we all cooked and had a blast. My Hubby ended up with a new job in 2020 in a different State, so we haven’t been able to spend the holidays with the family since. I lived vicariously through you, today! 🥰

Regarding stuffing, I always make a huge batch, usually 4x the amount and then freeze several individual servings so I can have it with different meals, it doesn’t always have to be eaten with poultry, when I reheat it, I usually just add a small amount of my home made broth that I freeze in ice cube trays for small servings such as this
