Your dad saying, “I love doing potatoes cause it’s like digging for treasure” is so sweet, I’ve heard you say that so many times on your channel
@loveyourselfplease68422 жыл бұрын
This is why I looked forward to potatoes every year when I had a garden. When I was pregnant with my son I had a lot of back problems and of course everyone tells you to sit and apply heat or ice but the sitting just made it worse and I also got really early braxton hicks in my 3rd trimester which only got worse if I sat or laid down so one of my biggest reliefs was getting up and moving around in my garden, digging up potatoes was my favorite. I had special double layered gloves that went almost to my elbows so I never actually touched soil and my doctor gave me a special brace to support my back and belly along with special instructions but she was very pleased that I had found an activity to give me exercise, keep me moving and get some relief for the low back pain and braxton hicks. I really miss my garden.

Becky, even with weeds your garden looks pretty magical. It’s very lush, and has that “Secret Garden” feel. Your parents are so genuine. Their delight at digging up potatoes, carrots and onions was awesome. I’m glad you have that help. Your whole family is so supportive and it’s such a blessing to see. Thanks. Can’t wait to see how you preserve everything. Maybe you could pickle some of those small red onions whole or included them in some giardiniera.

Amazing harvest as well, don’t beat yourself up that the weeds had a great time in the beds-you still won with the bounty you pulled out over the two days! I usually do potatoes in grow bags. At harvest, I literally dump each bag onto a wooden framed hardware cloth screen I made to sit over my wheelbarrow. And just sift through the soil for all the potatoes. When I'm done with 2-3 bags (and the wheelbarrow is nearly full) I amend all the soil and then refill the bags. Got it down to a science at this point.
