Fun fact - my great grandpa was on the team that developed the Marionberry! He and my great grandma had several marionberry plants from cuts of the original one! They cut starts off of theirs and have given them to each of their kids and grandkids. When I have my own house and garden someday, my mom will give me a stsrt from her plant. ❤

​@@DeAnn_Davies_1227well I've never heard of them before! But my favorite berry is what we call Wine berries. And I've yet to meet anyone outside of my town in WV that's even heard of them. So I found out they are from China! And they were brought to my area of the Appalachian Mtns to try to start them here!

When it comes to the use for the pumpkin- a friendly reminder that it is good for sick tummies for dogs and chickens. We also like spicy Italian sausage and peppers with a cream based pumpkin sauce. We have also used a pumpkin and tomato sauce for a pizza base. Pureed pumpkin and cream cheese mix is great on a bagel. Pumpkin gnocchi

This doesn’t have to do with this video but just wanted to thank you for sharing so many good recipes. For Christmas I made several of your recipes: bacon wrapped chicken with cream cheese filling, Parmesan carrots, mashed potatoes,and cheesecake stuffed chocolate cake. I also added a few of my own appetizers for the kids (we had Little Smokies in a blanket, grape jelly meatballs, snowman cheese ball, deviled eggs, Christmas tree pesto bread sticks, apples and Carmel dip) but the concept was yours. Main dish and appetizer sides. Oh and eggnog cookies (delicious) and Andes cookies which did not turn out and I did everything according to the recipe. I think it’s just a bad recipe. Thank you for helping me have great success this holiday season. Oh and I also used your and your mom’s entertaining course to help keep me organized. You’re a treasure Becky. Thank you!!

A friend made a pumpkin chili for us that was delicious! Just replace the tomatoes with pumpkin. It was so good!

Becky, I freeze dry my pumpkin and I love it! I can reconstitute it or just add the powder to recipes. It works great and doesn't take freezer space.

Good morning Becky, well, I just had to tell you how Our Christmas was this year! I decided to bake like crazy like you do. I tried many new recipes and now have a few new favorites. However, I have no idea how you get so much done in just a day. If I was lucky, I could get 2-3 recipes done in a day. I made Chai Spiced Scones and baked them in my Nordic Ware Scone Pans. I have two for winter and a square one for Spring and Summer. I also have several others like large Gingerbread men and women. I made chocolate chip scones to give to my neighbor and to family. I also made Pecan Shortbread cookies and made them into cutout cookies. I tried to decorate them with Royal Icing. I used to decorate cakes but especially the cookies. My hands aren’t as good as they once was but it was still fun. However, here it is, 12/28, I still have cookies to decorate! I hope your family had a wonderful Christmas Season. God Bless you all. I just found a recipe for squash (pumpkin) cinnamon rolls. It’s not savory but it’s additional nutrition without being a “pumpkin pie flavor”. You could probably add it to many bread recipes.

also you can essentially vacuume seal a bag with a bucket of water. just slowly submerge the bottom of the bag and the closer to the zipper the water level is the less air in the bag. then once its submerged up to the zipper, just zip it up

I absolutely love Marionberries.. My husband first introduced them to me from a town. I believe it was a town called Azalea, Oregon. A restaurant named Heaven on earth. They made Marionberry jelly. So yummy

I make my own dog food and pumpkin is always in it :) also you can bake directly in the smaller snapware so you don’t have to portion it later. I do it all the time just make sure to spray them well and put them on a cookie sheet

It’s chicken, veggies and brown rice mostly. I have tried different things to find a mix of things he likes and that didn’t make him itchy which is why I started making it in the first place :)

Freeze dried puree pumpkin is awesome. It rehydrates fast and can be used in anything canned pumpkin from the store is used in.

Thank you as usual for a great video! I would love to learn more about freeze dryer challenges and how you overcome them. I have had a freeze dryer for 2 years and it has continually given me trouble. For example, I can't even dream of putting whole strawberries or large chunks in. I basically slice everything thinner than I want to use them and they still need many extra hours beyond when the cycle ends. I find it very frustrating, but I watch so many youtubers make it seem so easy. I must be doing something wrong. I would love to hear if you've run up against challenges and what tricks you have to make it not so overwhelming. Thanks!!!!

I made stew in a pumpkin once. You make the stew then put it in a pumpkin and put it in the oven and bake it. Serve it in the pumpkin. When you dish it out, scrape some of the pumpkin off and serve it with the stew. I remember that it was really good.

You can use pumpkin and butternut squash interchangeably.... I have a lasagne that I make that exchanges the red sauce for squash puree.... I also mix spinach in the ricotta mixture...my hubby found the inspiration for this from a better homes and gardens mag a few years ago and I have made a few riffs on it over the years.... And yes it's very good with Italian sausage crumbled into it 😊

Discovered an amazing pumpkin for baking. The popcorn pumpkin roast amazing and is very tasty. No liquid to drain off either. I had to add a cup of water to my pan while roasting. Everyone loved the pumpkin bread and pies I made. They are lighter in color but an amazing taste.

I freeze dry my pumpkin and powder it for breads pies and adding to soups. Takes up less room for storage.

I don't know of any savory pumpkin dishes, but I think it is wonderful added into a chocolate cake batter and other baked goods. It allows for less fat to be used and still have moist results.

I use pumpkin somewhat like mashed potatoes. Just add a little butter, salt and pepper! We love it!

I went on Pinterest and found a great pumpkin kale chickpea stew. i add ground turkey personally and some cabbage that i blend up with my hand mixer. love it with pumpkin though.

Pumpkin Thai soup! Pumpkin, broth, coconut milk, garlic, ginger, chili powder, red curry powder or red curry paste, salt/pepper, etc.

I add squash or pumpkin to my chicken tortilla soup for added fiber and nutrients. The spice in the soup covers the pumpkin flavor. Also give some to your sweet doggos for treats. It's so good for them.

Becky. If you want to bring the soap up a step put some of that pumpkin in it. The freeze dried powder would be perfect without having to do any recipe adjustments to account for added water or fats.

I saw someone suggested using onions and potatoes to make hash browns another good hash brown recipe is potatoes O'Brien it's hash brown potatoes with onions and bell peppers what ever color you like they can also be frozen. I see them in the stores frozen food section. Ingredients from your garden will be so much better no mystery additives to worry about. I love the flavor the peppers add to the hash browns. I like adding eggs to the hash browns at the end and scrambling them in adds protein to the dish. Take care of yourselves don't push to hard to soon. Happy New Year! As for the lemon leaves depends on what you want dried lemon leaves hyou can find it at your local Spanish market one particular brand I find is called "Pepito" which have various types of ingredients you may want and need but dried. Fresh lemon leaves you can get at your local Asian or Jamaican market. They are both used to make teas for various ailments, weight loss or detox. I hope this helps you.

My husband came down with that nasty cold on Christmas Eve. I will make this soup for him. It has such healthy ingredients to manhandle a cold. Yes, I am incredibly jealous of those marionberries. I don't know if anyone already mentioned these suggestions, but I make a savory pumpkin gratin from Jacques Pepin that is super easy. I've also made pumpkin soup that seems to be a universal hit (saute onions in avo or olive oil until translucent, add to blender with cooked pumpkin, fresh ginger, turmeric, salt, & water to your desired consistency). Both of these recipes are in regular rotation in fall & winter when pumpkins are in season. I prefer using Kabochas, but any dry-ish pumpkin works best! Lover your channel 🫶🏽

Here's another recipe for all that pumpkin you have 😉 Pumpkin Bread (Makes 2 loaves) 3 X-large eggs 2 c castor sugar 2/3 c oil 2 c pumpkin puree 3 c All purpose flour 1/2 t baking powder 2 t baking soda 2 t All Spice 2 t cinnamon 1/2 t cloves 1/2 t salt 1 t Vanilla Preheat oven to 180°C. Mix egg and sugar together until light yellow in colour. Mix oil and pumpkin in. Sift the dry ingredients and add to the wet ingredients. Mix until a dough forms. Add the vanilla and mix through. Put dough in prepared bread tins and bake for 55 min or until done.

I have been making goat milk soap for over a decade and at first it seems scary, but after a while it’s old hat and so much fun! Our family’s skin loves it so much better than store bought. Pumpkin soup😊 Cook pumpkin in chicken stock or add some after if you have rosted the pumpkin. Blend up till lovely and smooth now the fun starts Choices..add to your taste 1. Becky I made your recipe of the stuffed chicken wrapped in bacon as well the sweet potatoe salad. Must say it was a huge hit and absolutely Devine. Thankyou for the recipes. Pumpkin can be used so many ways and yes I saw someone mentioned it is so good for your sweet pups as well. Enjoy ! I have the solution for lightweight items on the top shelf of your dishwasher. Load your items onto top shelf. Place a cookie sheet upside down over the plastic containers. May need an additional small cookie sheet or freeze drier pan to get them all covered. Easy easy 😀

Becky, we did not have enough silicone mats for our trays and we just used wax paper. We googled it and it said it was fine and we had no issues with it.

I am italian ... have you ever tried pumpkin risotto? That's my fav .... very easy, for 4 people .... In a pot you need to have around 2 liters of boiling vegetable broth. Place ½ cup of cold butter in a non-stick large pan and heat, then add 3 cups of pumpkin puree, salt, pepper and a little chilli if you like. Simmer and after 5 minutes deglaze with ½ cup of white wine. Add 2 cups short white rice (not basmati). As soon as the wine evaporates, add a couple or more of ladles of the boiling broth and continue adding it a little every time the rice dries, to make it cook without it sticking. You dont have to use it all but just keep adding it when the rice dries. It will take approximately 15-18 minutes. Always stirring from time to time. At the end the rice must be pretty dry and just before turning off the heat, we taste to check the cooking of the rice and add salt, pepper and chilli. If it's too liquid, let it dry stirring a couple of min more. Finally, turn off the heat, add ½ cup of cold butter and then 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese. Mix well and serve with a little pepper and chopped parsley on top ❤ P.s. sorry about my English 😅

I imagine you could make a yummy soup with onion, sausage or bacon bits, couscous. I did this with sweet potato, and it was absolutely delicious.

I love your channel Becky. Pumpkin is one my most favourite vegetables. And totally savoury. 😛My personal favourite way to eat pumpkin is just plain roasted. Just chunks of pumpkin, the same size as your pieces of potato. I also make a salad with cooked pumpkin chunks, baby spinach, crumbled or diced feta, green beans, roasted pine nuts or slivered almonds, and a balsamic vinegar dressing. Also, mashed pumpkin would be a very common first 'savoury' baby food here in Australia. It was definitely a first foods for both my babies. I'm not a homesteader, by any means, but I did make all my own baby food. Either freezing in ice cube trays, or larger snack size plastic containers. Though I first think of pumpkin as 100% savoury, my favourite fruit cake calls for mashed pumpkin.

Hi Becky, I had several sinus infections when I was going through oral chemotherapy years ago, my daughter took me to dinner at a Sushi restaurant, I had never had wasabi before, but that with a California roll, helped clear my sinuses. Anytime I felt like I was coming down with something, I would get me a California roll and wasabi. It helped a lot

I don't like squash. So of course I didn't think I would like squash soup. It was delicious! I would definitely have Josh try it. I certainly was. Of note I have never pressure canned my green beans. Just used watebath and never had a problem.

I have a plastic container that store bought macaroni was in. I use that to hold my gallon bag when I need to put something in it. So nice to have that “3rd” hand!!!!

The marionberries look like mulberries which is my favorite jam! I have a mulberry tree and my neighbor gifted me a white mulberry tree. I can't wait to try them when they start producing fruit.

Try ruthann zimmermans canning potatoes! I canned some this year and they are so convenient. You can use them in soups or fry them or roast them. I didn't think dry canned potatoes would be good but I'm really liking them.

Salty Seattle has a recipe for butternut squash pasta filling. I make it all the time. It'd be fine with pumpkin. but it needs to be dry. I end up hanging cheesecloths full of puree to drain. I think the freeze dried pumpkin would be excellent for that. It's squash mixed with ricotta with egg yolk and seasoning.

I make pasta sauce with butternut squash. It significantly cuts down the acidity, which is a problem for me. I don't see why pumpkin couldn't be used instead of butternut squash.

Moroccan pumpkin and chick pea stew, curried pumpkin and coconut soup, pumpkin and spinach lasagna, pumpkin and mushroom lasagna and the lasagnas can be typical layer ones or as rolled up lasagna noodles - there are so many options🙂

Cause she consumes so much salt. High blood pressure who knows what else. It could have been why she ended up sickz I’ve seen her mess up a few recipes with too much salt. She’s got big hands when it comes to salt.

​@Uhhokaywhatever she doesn't use store-bought salt. She uses Redmond Salt. She even has a video of when she went to the salt mines. It isn't a strong salty salt if that makes sense. 😊

I make an African peanut stew that’s similar to your pumpkin curry. But it’s with sweet potatoes and about half a cup of peanut butter but I always double or triple the peanut butter. It’s delicious. I hope you’re feeling better soon!

In a soup pan I sauté a small onion with a minced stalk of celery. Add two cups of cubed raw pumpkin and enough water to barely cover, add a tablespoon of chicken or veggie bullion. Cook until fork tender. Add a small can of coconut milk. Use a emersion blender. Add pumpkin spice and a tablespoon of brown sugar. Serve with a Topping with a few broiled salted pumpkin seeds n a splash of balsamic vinegar.

Yes! freeze dry pumpkin puree! Its great to use up, and you can blend up after to make it very smooth. I've done pumpkin pie filling (not the sugar) and it reconstitutes really well

Mmm pumpkin - always in the fridge. Loved watching this! So it’s a staple here everything from the most days basic meat n three veg dinners (meat, mashed potato, mashed pumpkin and then peas beans or spinach as the green) , pumpkin cubes roasted and tossed in salads, or in curries as chunks, pumpkin soup, baby food - mashed pumpkin with or without mashed up apple mixed in, pumpkin in quiche, I’ve done pumpkin mixed with ricotta as a lasagne layer (I prefer it as the sauce rather than sliced, pumpkin on pizza with salty things, pumpkin scones, use the mash as thickener in stews….. Essentially any way EXCEPT in sweet pie! 😂… the orange veggie in a pie needs to be Gramma (also use tartaric acid not lemon juice if you look that up - also that pie has a pastry lid not just tart shell). Now I’m hungry… brb 😂

Also… raw chunks for the puppies is a winner here. And cauliflower too! The doggos line up when I’m preparing the people dinner veggies pushing for their share!

You can make tomato sauce and tomato paste with the freeze-dried tomatoes. I make my paste all the time now that way, so I am not wasting a 6 oz can to use a tablespoon or two. And I do put it in soups also! Hope you are feeling better soon!!!

To add to your savory pumpkin ideas. A friend of mine and I took thick slices of pumpkin and used butter and seasonings; A savory butter poultry seasoning to be more specific and roasted it in the oven. What I'm calling a pumpkin steak. Savory, rich, comforting absolutely delicious and going to be a fall staple!
