I watch a lot of abstract pour videos and yours is the first to actually explain the mechanics behind what you’re doing. Like with how high you pour and how the darker colors bleed in if poured last.

Informative, practical tips...just an awesome video ! And the finished product is gorgeous! Well done! I knew intuitively that you would not waste the run off lol..sheesh. Anyone who has done or is doing pours knows the value of the paint that runs off. None is wasted. Thank you soooooooooo much for the demo and for being so patient and answering our questions even though some were duplicated! It must be hard sometimes to do so when all you want to do is create more art! The blues are astounding in their beauty btw so I understand why they are some of your favorite!

Let it all dry and make acrylic skin art, use in jewelry (*already said) make geli prints with the left overs, use for dip art on card stock for cards, canvas boards to put family photos onto, or even the pages from a scrapbook then put photos onto those. Mixed media art journals mini dips to document the pours you have done, colors you have used to keep track, so you have quick reference to show clients who are having issues picking colors for a personal canvas etc. So many ideas so little time to Art. Love your videos I can not say that enough. Again Thank You so much. Appreciate Your time, talent, and what ever You choose to do with Your run off is fine by me ;~)

its my understanding that in general, the lighter colors, esp with a white base, are heavily pigmented (titanium white being the densest color). therefore, most put light colors on bottom of a dirty pour and flip cup. the reason being that when the cup in poured, white would the be on top, as the layers are inversed (bottom layer in cup, becomes top color on canvas). doing so causes the white based heavier density paints to sink through the other colors and it forces the brigjter and lighter colors upwards due to displacent due to weight and causes cells. i havent done a large number of pours, 30 or so, but have had better results learning that technique. however i use dimethicone and i add it to all paint except white so that it lifts the color easier since silicone floats above water anyways. but as i said i am a beginner and very open to new techniques like yours... great pour! arent we all learning new things about this medium? so fun to watch what works for different artists!
@robertbradford34617 жыл бұрын
Yookin Tryta the problem using any kind of oil or silicone is the residual that's stays under the paint but on top of medium, and will cause paint to chip and flake over time, because it prevents the acrylic from adhering to medium, this I believe is why she is using alcohol instead as it evaporates leaving no residue and still has the same effect, causing cells, but I've also seen several other videos using various things even water to create cells, which is total garbage as we know the specific gravity of the colors you use has more to do with it then anything else
@elfiewilkins66396 жыл бұрын
Robert Bradford Finally someone thinks as I do, and expressed it so well. I too saw a video, where the person assured us, that she uses only water to create cells. That statement was completely contradicted at the end of the video when the painting was finished with zero cells. Cells appeared After about 30 minutes while the painting was left in place and the person came back, suddenly it had quite big cells. I have guessed that someone sprayed detergent/ water over the surface. And that made the cells. After all anyone can pour a dirty cup with paint mixed only with water alone and see what will happen.
@MeteorMega6 жыл бұрын
You are correct. If you use light on top you get muddy. But if you like that it is quite pretty in the correct combinations.
@SandraBettsArt4 жыл бұрын
If you use Dove face wipes to gently wipe the painting off after about a week, you are able to get off any residual silicone. This allows the gloss varnish to adhere to the paint smoothly and there is no distortion in the colors.

Oh My! You should try doing a pour on the front of dresser drawers. And maybe the top? And paint the rest a solid color that compliments the main color! Have you ever thought of doing that? Or, on a coffee table? Then use triple thick afterwards? Bet it would look fantastic, but probably costly, depending on the size of furniture........... Went to your store and they all look gorgeous!

Love your philosophy on being messy when you paint. Lol. I think I've just started matching my outfits to whatever color of paint my skin happens to be stained on any given day. 😛 I've tried several different ways of getting cells, but I always seem to go back to using a fine mist spray of rubbing alcohol. I've heard many artist say they don't get great results using alcohol, but it's never let me down. Lovely picture, I'm very much partial to using blues as well. Likely because they automatically make you think of flowing water which works beautifully with the flow of a dirty pour. Ps your keyboard isn't messy, it's just a reflection of your colorfully artistic personality. At least that's what I keep telling my husband about mine. 😜
