Once you treat a fungal bacteria infection with primer,(most primers that are acid based)you can put a nail on top of that. The key to preventing a fungal infection., 1. Have always wash hands prior to service. 2. Nail techs use a spray sanitizer for hands and nails(generally 70% isopropyl alcohol will work) 3. You have to ETCH Nails properly. I use a 100/100 grit file. I use up and down motion on nail until they are all etched to a chalky white. This also means you don't have to press hard or use to much pressure. Just gentle pressure. Same on every nail.,4. After etching. Remove all dust from your clients hands and nails. I use 70 percent isopropyl alcohol.5. FO NOT TOUCH Nails after etching and applying alcohol.5. Then I use my primer very sparingly. Primer is an avid that disinfects(that's a big word, here. Applied properly Primer will sanitize and disinfect the nail bed)6. DO NOT touch Nail. Doing do will reintroduce bacteria and germs to a sterile surface. 7. Big thing!: I apply a second coat of primer when applying my acrylic. Gels and other nail products may be different.8. Your ready to let them dry and shape. I've witnessed and educated a lot of techs. Before I taught in the Beauty Industry I worked for a major, major supplier in California. I worked in a Salon and worked as an educator. I believed in training and teaching the right way for the manufacturer of products I sold . All manufacturers have directions for their products. As a professional we've all tweaked ways to make the way you do nail unique to you. When you have cleanliness, good products, excellent training etc. I was so busy I was working 80 hours a week. Up at 5sm. Not home till 8-9. But I love what I do. It took me 1 year to save 300 bucks to go to nail school. The school was excellent. Then by chance my family relocated. California was so big and fast. I looked for jobs. No problem. Then I learned all the different ways to do nails Acrylics to Z nails! Manish, pedis, acrylic etc. Everything! You are a professional. If you need to up your prices, fo do. Do grocery stores or your doctor tell you when they increase their prices. They just do so. Is it proper. I don't think so. You have bills to pay. And after Covid, huge bills. Masks, masks for customers etc. Little things add up to huge costs. Now days I just mention it to my clients. All these things only take seconds to complete. Your are your business. Treat it so. Happy Nailing!
@mercedessalami40124 жыл бұрын
Once you treat a bacterial infection, which is a fungal infection, it's dead. Even if the nail had done green on the nail, you can apply an acrylic, gel, silk wrap etc. If the infection is under the nail plate, you can even ad a nail on top. I've done both. It's only a cardinal sin to you. To nail techs who are working their ass off to please their customers need knowledge they can consume, not some GREEN reply from an inexperienced nail tech! Tata!

Not really once bacteria or fungus gets exposed to air it dies and what's left over is a stain that has to grow out. However it isn't a good idea to put acrylic back on if the client has chronic lifting issues. There shouldn't be hygiene issues if disposable products are thrown away and all other tools are cleaned and sanitized.

Best recommendation is to do a manicure and clean her nails properly and send her off to the doctor to get a test of what the green stuff on her nail is. Then go by what the doctor recommends and let the nail heal because it can definitely get worse if not maintained properly. Beautiful work nonetheless.
@juliechristie21055 жыл бұрын
It looks like a greenie, which is because the nail has lifted, water has gotten between nail and acrylic, it dies as soon as air gets to it, but u need to throw any files u use and disinfect ur nail drill bits etc. I don't understand why, if the acrylic is barely holding on to the nail tip, would it not be better to remove it fully and put on a full fresh nail.
@oshunbeauty42344 жыл бұрын
Yes. She shouldn't have even messed with it. Where I am, it is illegal to even work on someone with pseudomonas. Once we see it, the most we can do here is refer them to the doctor. If we get caught working on a client like this, we lose our license. Putting an enhancement over it will just make it worse.

@@maudsandaker2367 The acrylic she uses is a cover acrylic so you dont need to put a thin layer of clear acrylic underneath. There is a difference between cover acrylic and coloured acrylic. When looking at acrylic systems and you see that the 'colour' is a cover colour (they are usually nude and pink colours), it means it has enough strength to use it on it's own and build the whole nail including the apex just like you can with clear acrylic.

Fratzolaki19 a bright green spot is typically from bacteria that is allowed to colonize in the warm, moist, lifted area. Everyone has bacteria on their skin at all times so this is not always caused by your sanitation. I've been a licensed nail tech for 17 years and have noticed that some clients are more prone to greenies than others. As long as the natural nail is not lifting off the nail bed, you should be able to remove the product, cleanse and prep the nail and apply new product. Hope this helps!
