I think these are just lovely. How do you keep them from splitting when they dry??

Thank you so much! Sorry for the late response, I've just started using this channel again recently. My wood slices split as well over time! I've read that you can apply a sealant, varnish, wax, or even specific oils to help keep it from splitting! I've never tried this though, sorry I don't have any experience with it to give you a better answer!

I just love this! The colours, everything about it. I’ve painted two of them. Do you have any tutorials for a nativity scene on a wood slice?

Quick question: did you put gesso on the wood, or is it just white paint? And if it is gesso, is there a difference in the process/end product if you do or don't apply it?

I just used white paint! :) But you can use either!

Beautiful. I have 2 questions. 1 - What brush are you using? 2- Are you using craft paint?
@AlannisTurnerArt4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! This is acrylic paint, and I just use any thin brush for the fine details, and a wider brush for the white background. I get my brushes at Michael's :)

Sorry for the late response, I just started using this channel again recently :) My wood slice split too! I haven't tried any methods of preventing this, as I don't really mind the added rustic look. However I've read that you can apply a sealant, oils, or wax to prevent the splitting!
