In this video I am showing how to paint an old men portrait painting in acrylic. I am also explaining the process of painting wrinkles on the face. In this demonstration I am using only water mist to keep my paint moist in my palette. No retarder or any kind of medium is used in the entire process.
I have started this painting with a base coat of Yellow Ochre and Burnt sienna. Then, I have applied many thin layers to achieve the desired effect of the skin tone and the effect of transparent cloths. Most of the blending is done with dry brush technique with minimal water on the palette.

Moreover there are various methods to paint realistic skin tone. You may find glazing more comfortable. I have videos on glazing too. Please check it out on my playlist. How does your paint run so smoothly on canvas? Mine dries so fast and is very difficult to blend. Do you prime canvas with something?

How important is underpainting... What is the size 0f painting

Underpainting helps you to define a mood for the painting as a whole. Moreover I feel safe to start with an earthy tone instead of a blank canvas. It's on a A3 size canvas. Thank you so much for watching 😊🙏
