This production was really something special. And i was one of the lucky children who had the chance to feature in it!

RSC, Always wonderful talent, of course..........I wish someone would present Romeo and Juliet, among other Shakespeare pieces, in the complete dress and costume of the day, a traditional presentation.......Every presentation I have seen over the past few years, had to modernize it, in contemporary costume, which really, simply, end up being tennis shoes and everyday street clothes.......very sloppy..........maybe it works for a quick schooldays presentation. I am longing to see Shakespeare's beautiful work done in true to the era costumes, beautiful actual wardrobe. That is part of the beauty of seeing this magnificent work on stage; seeing the beautiful wardrobe that is true to the era! I did not even finish viewing this clip, I am so tired of seeing the sloppy representation in the costume/wardrobe department.........sad! Takes away from the work actually.

So do you also want all the actors to be men and white? The costumes of Shakespeare's time were simply modern clothing of that time period. Really the only clothes they kept in wardrobe were clothing for women (with wigs) and nobility, and any clothing bequeathed or sold to the company. Most actors wore their regular clothes. In short, they didn't do much for costuming the way today's companies do... To claim that a play is made by the clothing suggests that the words, the images, the emotion haven't stood the test of time and that's a bold statement for Shakespeare's works.

@@jenniferthibodeau1379 Not at all true, nor, anything of what I meant??! Geez! I love the talent and the work; passionate about it all; I am simply tired of seeing it performed in casual (nowaday's) clothing, tennis shoes etc; or some weird modernized version for wardrobe. I've seen a few productions, and all of them were modernized.......the artists were good.........all I was commenting on is I'd love to see it performed in full, traditional attire; and yes, of course, in Shakespeare's day, it was their modern day clothing, of course!!! Dah!!! I just commented that I'd love to see it! And, recently, finally did; it was wonderful to see! It is just disappointing to always see it modernized for our time....which is okay too.......however, that is what I have continually come across.......until recently! Which was really refreshing and fun!

I'm so sorry but the acting is not very good. The set,s costumes, the music is fantastic! But both actors did not do anything for me on the emotional and high level of intense this should have had. Maybe they get better towards the end, but from this little clip, it doesn't seem good :/

I always think good Shakespearean acting is being able to make the lines NOT sound like blank verse.

What is emotional or intense about this scene though? They're two young characters meeting and falling in love at first sight. Why is your expectation that that should be played so intensely?
