[Act 1] Solo Druid - Gnoll Your Enemy - Honour Mode

It can be a daunting task to fight Gnolls. But this time it's easy.
This time we shall give Spore Druid a go. Druids are a class I have extremely little experience with, so we shall see how it goes. I did an early wipe at the very first fight outside the Grove, so we are off to a rough start. This is technically run 2, but since the first ended so fast I don't really count it.

I love spike growth!! if you have lighting charges the damage is added to the growth!

@@FriendlyLich Coruscation Ring and Callous Glow Ring also work. I had a Druid build with Callous Glow Ring and Ring of Absolute Force (to increase damage from Reverberation) combined with Boots of Stormy Clamour and Gloves of Belligerent Skies - enemies were taking massive damage moving through it and often just fell prone from the Reverberation. There's also a variant where you can do the same thing but with Radiant Orbs and the Coruscation Ring.

1) Using Halo of Spores which apparently doesn't cost action or bonus action to heal by destroying the potions is super smart. 2) Spike Growth is actually overpowered, at least for early levels. There are just too many spells in this game to see/try them all out, or at least I suck at trying out new things until I either had to or have seen it elsewhere. 3) I just realized since I'll be respecing Astarion in my honor run in a couple of minutes (was just eating :D), I could try the dual wielding whatever feat to give him an additional ranged attack on top of the extra attack coming from gloom stalker 🤔 4) Gods I need to get back to the solo tactician I started several weeks ago. I'm nearing the end of act 3 in honor though and then I'll see whether I continue that one or do something different.

I was inspired to start a solo honor run on a warlock (multiclassing to sorc at some point) from your vids. Already did it with an archer build but tbf that build is honor mode on easy mode with training wheels. Never thought it possible to beat solo honor mode with more off-meta builds so a big thank you for helping me challenge myself 🙂

Spore druid was what I played for my very first finished run, and while it was fun I've learned *so much* since that run. I really feel like I should try it again with all the knowledge I've gained because it already felt great when I knew nothing about the game or d&d at all, I can only imagine how much better it'll be when actual strategy is applied haha.

Sweet, did you enjoy spore druid? I didn't really enjoy it a lot at first but it's starting to grow on me. Specially when unlocking unique spells and such.

I did! It was technically my second character, second druid even, but it was release week and I hadn't figured out how to respec but *had* figured out how awful it was if your main character was constantly wasting wildshape charges to do conversations. So I basically just played her as an archer with support spells, similar to how you're doing it but I couldn't use handbows so I stuck to whatever other ranged weapon I found and had proficiency with. I stacked up other on-hit bonuses and had an absolute blast, kept things at range by keeping some variety of difficult terrain spell going which pulled double-duty when I used concentration ones for whatever item it is that gives extra damage while concentrating.

Off, didn't know about conversations breaking wildshape, thanks for the heads up! I do hope to be able to transition away from archer at some point but at the moment it is just too good to pass up on. The control spells are you say will be my go to. I'm hoping to get good mileage from that spike growth lady and cloudkill 🖤

They fixed that in a later patch, just the one I played my first druid on you couldn't start conversations in wildshape. Pretty sure now it either leaves you in wildshape or you get transformed out for the conversation and back in for free after it's over, can't remember how it's supposed to work now.

Yeah was a bit scared about that tripple archery attack they can do. Figured it was best to leave em in the spikes for as long as possible :)

If you get the spell spark staff it will give you bonus lightning damage when you attack with it btw plus lightning charges for your spell attacks

Using the spores to break the healing potion so you can heal with a reaction instead of a bonus action is clever. I find it difficult to judge when I should use a reaction or when I should save it.

I think sneak attack is considered a reaction. If it is, that would explain why my rogue doesn't get an attack of opportunity in the same round they made a sneak attack.

I saw that trick somewhere on KZbin awhile back and it stuck with me. It’s really nifty to be able to pop potions like that. I don’t think rogues sneak attack consumes your reaction. At least it won’t in DnD but I’m honestly not certain to give you a definite answer. Sorry!

I'm going for it at either 5 or 6. Probably 5. Nothing big no. I've gotten a few comments about using lightning charges (i got the staff stashed) so I think I will try that out a bit at least. Seems interesting.
