What Is Acthar? Acthar is a repository corticotropin injection (RCI) or Acthar Gel is an ACTH that is thought to quell inflammation by stimulating the body's own ability to produce endogenous steroids.
Acthar is used for the treatment of severe acute and chronic allergic and inflammatory processes involving the eye and its adnexa. It has an anti-inflammatory effect because it uniquely binds to a specific receptor to help down-regulate both inflammation and the signals that keep inflammation going once started.
Acthar gel is not an eye drop, but an in-home injection similar to an injection like insulin, taken once or twice a week as needed.

I was on Acthar Gel for chronic Uveitis and it did not help at all but one of the possible side effects of this medication is causing cataracts which I now have.
