Love watching the mother and daughter slug working in the yard, humping the train

Wonderful! I thought the hump was torn out years ago in Allentown.

It's apparently still there somewhat, just not in use

INTERESTING, have never seen a hump yard operate before. Am figuring out where to place hump yard on my layout. Thanks for the real action to go by.

cool that you are modeling a hump yard... but a word of operational warning... the laws of physics don't lend itself too well to model humpyard switching movements... your cars will roll so fast down the hump that you lose every element of realistic humping operations... flat switching would be a much better option... from a realism standpoint (hope your layout turns out how you want it to)

When it was CNJ yard the record on West Hump was 875 cars over the hill in 8 hour shift. Lot of empties on west hump.

Are SD's normal for humping and switching in the northeast? We don't have any hump yards but rather just shallow gravity yards and the only thing you ever see being used to switch with are 4 axle Geeps or SW's. Never seen it done with anything bigger.

I always thought that it took positive air pressure to release the brakes on a train car, and that if the air pressure was taken away, the brakes would be ON, How can cars drift without air pressure???
@thetrainguy16 жыл бұрын
When they hump cars all the cars are bleed off..meaning all the air in the system is removed. Releasing the breaks.

You should ask the guy at the hump shack if there's some place you could film to see that board to see how he knows where to uncouple the cars. Just don't get in his way
