I get overwhelmed by sound sometimes. Not by volume, but by too many sounds at once. What you hear as background noise, I hear as lots of individual sounds fighting for my attention. Drove me nuts as a kid. Not so bad anymore. But when I was young I built a soundproof room. It was actually worse. The heartbeat, breathing, blood pulsing in my head, and every little movement felt amplified. Oh, and then there's the audio paradolia from the white noise of your blood. You start to hear music. I get the same effect from fans and electric motors sometimes. I think I'd lose it in that quiet room after a while. Silence can be incredibly loud.

If they deadened the sound just a little, it would lower people's stress levels and reduce fights. That makes too much sense though so it will never be done. Also jails view herbs, spices, and salt as nothing more than flavor so they don't allow any. That causes nutrient deficiencies, despite adequate calorie intake. That can cause all sorts of behavioral problems. Instead of fixing the root of the problem they turn to pills. Makes more money that way!

Quiet rooms aren't necessarily great for recording.
@kitsunemusicisfire4 ай бұрын
@@t.c.v.t. Yes, but the REASON it's quiet is why. The walls absorb sound so there aren't any echoes, and there's no chance of any outside noise interfering. It is an optimal room for recording.

@@kitsunemusicisfire outside noise shouldn't be a factor anyway unless you're in some kind of shitty fucking room that wouldn't even suffice to live in. @@kitsunemusicisfire the room absorb too much noise. It would suck to record in that room. There is a reason why studio dont use those type of room. You need more of a audiometric room than an anechoic room.
@t.c.v.t.4 ай бұрын
@@1nicube Yeah it would almost sound like a vacuum. Too dry. Having a quiet room like this is different then a sound proof room with proper acoustics for a "dead" room. This is not it. It would sound like shit recording in there the proof is the noises they made being picked up by the cameras mic. It sounded like shit there is the proof. Too dead like I tried to tell the "rapper" (which we know means they mix all in the box with shit monitors in a untreated room in their house with very shit techniques they picked up from KZbin videos) these are more for testing as the conditions of the room are extreme. People that exaggerate what they think their emotions should be are so cringe. Like it just feels so contrived and it makes me annoyed. Like his dumb face when you hear a louder than usual ballon sound because you’re in a room whose purpose is to make sounds louder. Like, what do you expect. It wasn’t that crazy, even if the camera doesn’t pick up who loud it really was, the expression was like a subdued but over the top one, like acting. That’s how it comes across. Same with the quiet pop. Just cringe.

The balloon pop in the reverb chamber could be used as a gun shot sound effect. Then in the anechoic chamber, that sound would have to be 2 or 3 times as loud for anyone to believe it as a balloon pop sound effect. As is, maybe a quiet fart sound effect.
@terminalvelocityrunner220216 күн бұрын
That silent room gives a surprisingly good spectacle of how fast Sound waves travel. You hear it and then it just cuts off abruptly without a trace. Thats the sound that would normally bounce around a little being absorbed into the walls instead. Idk, maybe it’s just me, but i find it incredibly interesting to be able to hear how fast it disperses.

I once woke up to what I think was a sonic boom. I heard a loud continuous bang and the wind whistling. I thought there was a huge thunderstorm. When I looked up to the sky, as blue as it could get. And a few minutes later I heard a fighter jet flying around and figured it out. Surreal experience

@@DropIt56 of course. There are many ways. Most common method for us is to drill and fill. We drill sets of holes in between each rafters and fill the cavity with fiberglass blow or cellulose. It’s a lot of work involved though. Very messy. You would need to get further work done after the insulation process. Spackle, sand, primer, paint…… It makes a world of difference to your heating bills and makes your house significantly more comfortable, cozy and dulls out the sounds from outside.
@DropIt564 ай бұрын
@@dbodooley thanks for the info, I’ll definitely have to look into it. I think 10 out of 13 windows had been replaced before I bought it which helps some, but the front and back door need reframing. There’s still a bit of echo though and I can definitely hear outdoor sounds inside which is annoying when trying to watch tv and also sets off my dogs from time to time. I’m sure the size of house affects the price of a job, but could you give me a ballpark for cost and/or tips for searching local businesses? Is it an insulation specialty or would just finding a local contractor I trust be okay to get the job done?
