Disagree there was no danger, and not because I’m a fan of either Bowman or Bubba, but he didn’t mention window nets down, belts loosened, not as aware so when things occur the chance of it being more “eventful” than not is a danger still. I also loved Denny’s comments about not partnering with NASCAR as owners and drivers. 👍🏻

Denny, a year ago I didn’t know who you were or anything about the sport . Watched the race on TV last year, because I was interested as a Chicago native. I watch races in all three series regularly. I went this year and have tickets for the Bristol weekend in September. I was sitting in the founders suite behind the pits and could see backstage to that sign that said “Do something to make a new fan today.” You did last year, and probably did again this year.

I had a good view on lakeshore drive for this race. It sucked with the rain but when it resumed the intensity turned up so fast because it went from recovering from the rain to trying to get the laps in before it got dark. If they run it back for the third time they should push the race earlier to beat the rain if it comes through

As a Bowman fan, I was worried about listening this week, but you were very fair in your assessment on how stuff went in the race. I really appreciate that, and my respect for you and the podcast just continues to go grow. Jared kills it with the questions and a great cohost as well.

Being that the race was shortened. There shouldn't have been a stage break caution, the points should have been awarded but no caution should have been thrown. Also the race at race tracks with lighting issues should be started earlier during the day, that way it gives you more options and opportunities to get a full race in. The racing was amazing and everyone wanted more. I Felt like NASCAR could have done a better Job on😢 the Fly.

@@MGlass-xg9no I was given my assessment before the podcast started as if the race just ended. The point was the racing was great but the Fans wanted more or at least I Did. So that's the perspective I was coming from. The start time really wasn't the main issue. I just didn't like the stage break given the race was going to be shortened. Being that it had the potential to go from a wet to dry track without the stage break and more laps more strategy and they're probably would have been better race craft to finish the race. Just my 2 cents. I'm more of a Racer than a common fan.

I have followed some of Jimmy Broadbent's channel (from his stewardship vids) who has real world driving experience, and he raved about how the wet weather experience worked on iRacing. He in particular enjoyed how the track transitions from dry to wet and vice versa for endurance races when he tested Nurburgring, a situation the Chicago race certainly ran into.

I think it is. We get more in depth perspective because he's in the races. He also owns a team in it and he's willing to share more of his honest opinions. Nothing wrong with Jr. He just has a limit as to how filtered or unfiltered he will be and isn't knee deep as a driver or owner. I mean he doesn't even get in depth as an owner of an Xfinity team. His interviews are great. But the weekend recap episodes aren't AS GOOD, and even aren't as good as when he had Mike as a cohost. Again, nothing against the guys he has to bounce off of, but I feel like Mike added alot and pressured Jr on some topics where the other guys are generally just there for Jr to talk to as an avenue to speak to the viewers/listeners.

Maybe a good link up could be Tony Kanaan (through Jared's H1100 connection). He's very open to intro-ing other drivers to the newer aspects of iRacing, and did a lot of work around the introduction of rain. iRacing doesn't have Next Gen cars rain-enabled yet but there are a few other cars that could be good training tools, at least for adapting lines and playing around with on-track dryness.

Talking about cautions, I believe it was the last caution of the race there was like 21 minutes when the caution fly came out for not even an accident. I think it was a one maybe a two car spin and it took over five minutes to restart the race on a road course are you kidding me, that is insane. I don’t know the processes and all the other stuff that NASCAR has to bye-bye with the rules so on and so forth safety precautions, but that is ridiculous to me and it happens all the time more and more obviously it takes away from the race I believe on road courses, there should be and you’ve done it before NASCAR is done up before they’ve done an Xfinity series as well. A competitive pitstop stage and there’s no caution laughs. There’s nobody on the track you come in you do your time do your changes you have amount of time to get it done you get out, I love that that should be on every single track. You should not count caution laps at the end of the stage you are shortening the erase by 15 to 20 laps every single race if not more.

In the future, I wouldn't mind seeing road/street races be timed instead of distance races. 135 mins (2 hrs 15 mins) at every road/street course would be a good spot I think. They might also want to consider head and tail lights for those tracks too. Maybe invest a little in some basic lighting at the tracks so that the mix of track lights and car lights would make the visibility a non issue. The more conditions you make available to race in, the more options you have to get races in and it would give NASCAR something it hasn't had that some other series do. I mean, they have IMSA to base it off of, so it would be pretty easy to do.

*Chase Briscoe is a BONEHEAD. He was sideways 300ft before the corner trying to accelerate, so the breaking zone was the last thing on his mind. Trying to pass multiple cars up the inside approaching a slick corner, while everyone else was moving outside doesn't spell SKILL. Did he expect his parachute to deploy to slow him down ? NOPE, Just hammer 2 to 3 gears down, dump the clutch, torque lock the rear diff and put the brake pedal to the floor with both feet for good measure while covering your eyes with both hands and hoping for the best. THIS is where I would insert the "...bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it plays out..." Meme from Dodgeball. Briscoe ran out of talent - Plain and Simple. Drivers like SVG DESERVE a more skilled opponent. I personally hope that SVG starts turning guys at the circle tracks and speedways, while trying to make his way through the pack rather than staying Top20 HUMBLE and driving within his limits and experience for the Circuit(s).*

Ask Denny do you think think Nascar could start a exhibition series and have drivers from different organizations and the top 3 series race the same car but put them at new tracks like the road courses inside the race tracks and a few new ovals to see what new race tracks the fans and drivers want to add to the schedule and also try different things that Nascar wants ro try and make it a great way to give all the newer drivers a chance to compete against the cup drivers and find a way to prove themselves more besides Friday and Saturday races Also do you think we will get a season of racing where we the option tire at every track

Caution laps or cool down laps, cars shouldn't be used as fists period. Personally I think with window nets down and belts being disconnected it would increase the chance of injury to the drivers. I understand Denny's position as an owner in the Wallace Bowman deal but if your throwing that bait of cars hitting each other under caution vs cars hitting each other on cool down lap well I'm sorry but I'm not biting that bait.

Why does everyone keep saying belts loose/disco'd? This seems made up, and begs the question, if that is the actual case, why are drivers doing that? You're still driving the car. You shouldn't loosen belts till the car is stopped cuz you never know whats going to happen. That being said, I don't think his belts were undone, so why is everyone saying this?

@@ba97racing because the race is over and being Bowman is the winner he has to be ready to get out of the car for tv interview. How often do you see a winner undo his safety belts? Normally they already have that done during the cool down lap.

@@bartsmith2107 you're making assumptions, and I see them undo their stuff every time. How unsafe is it to be driving around with your belts undone at even those speeds...who's rushing the winner to get out of the car for the interview? He literally crashed in his own celebration. Hope his belts weren't undone then. This is a stupid assumption from people trying to make up excuses to get mad at Bubba.

They'd be pissed if it was Denny too. But I damn well bet they wouldn't be saying a damn thing if it was Larson or someone else doing it. It's not the first time its happened. It's not a big deal, and its just as easy to assume Bowman did have his belts on. Everyone just keeps saying the opposite cuz it helps their whiny narrative of the situation.

I think Bubba and Chase (if he hit Suarez after the race) should get penalties and I feel any issues you have should be voiced or shown out of the car on pit road. Reason I feel Bubba deserves the penalty the most is he ignored Bowman through out the red flag when apparently Bowman was trying to get ahold of him to talk it out. So this makes it feel like Bubba premeditated what he was going to do to Bowman after the race was over.

When it comes to concerts why couldn't they just do what the Indy 500 does? Indy has concerts going on during the race in the Snake Pit. What kind of atmosphere would that be like having Keith Urban going on at the same time as the race? Then towards the end of the race, the concerts stop so that full focus can be on the track. At least visually they'll be a whole lot more people at the track

Denny describing himself as ultra-competitive and comparing his drive to MJ on the same podcast where he questioned if it matters that he sucks in the rain is pretty funny. Denny is just describing himself the way everyone wants to describe themselves. It’s sort of like giving yourself a nickname, if you’re ultra-competitive you don’t have to tell people. Nobody describes Denny that way, he cracks under pressure is what people say about him.

This is my issue too. I don't like Bowman, but I also don't want to see anyone get hurt and Bowman already has his window net down and had multiple times before and after where he was hanging his arm out the window celebrating. Bubba got really lucky that Bowman's arm was not hanging out the window when bubba slammed him into the wall. I could only imagine 7200lbs of steel turning Bowman's arm into a pancake if his arm was hanging out during that moment.

What if, what if, what if. That wasn't the case so let's not sit here and try to make stuff up shall we? 'Oh well in this made up scenario in my head, this person would get penalized!' If a driver has their helmet off and belts loose before their car is stopped at the end of the race, that deserves it's own penalty.
