ACTIVE AUTOWERKE SENT TWO PROTOTYPE EQUAL LENGTH MIDPIPES FOR MY BMW F80 M3!

My AA EL’s were rattling against the cross brace and it sounded just like that, but it was a fairly easy fix. You’ve probably already done this, but just in case you haven’t…. make sure when you’re tightening the two middle clamps (right behind where the middle cross brace bolts onto the car) that you have a block/spacer, (like a small piece of wood) between the pipes and the cross brace. Tighten the clamps with the block still between the cross brace and the pipes, once the clamps are tightened remove the block. This will give more than enough clearance without having to use washers. Also, make sure the exhaust flap actuator bolts are tight (two 10mm bolts on both sides that you can access fairly easily even without the car lifted). I have heard of those coming loose and rattling as well. Just throwing that out there in case you haven’t tried, but you most likely have. Good luck!

Good insight for others man! I actually ran no cross brace when I was doing R&D for Active lol. But the for sure, spacer block is key for making sure there’s no contact rattles 💯💯

Sadly you need to either go single midpipe or order their new eql midpipe with extra resonators added - they just released it 👌🏽

Resonators are always the answer, but sacrifice loudness 😂 which I don’t want to give up

Try resonated midpipe. And stock muffler

Already did, muffler didn’t do anything, resonated muffled the buzz but you can still hear it

They sound best with aftermarket catted downpipes. Maybe AA can send you a pair of GESI downpipes.

My m3 had a competition exhaust, all I did was cut off the mufflers and had aftermarket downpipes installed and it was the best sounding m3 ive ever heard. No rasp, and it sounded amazing. Not biased at all, I didnt rlly like bmws when I got it. Surprised of how good that exhaust set up was, maybe try that but it won't be cheap lol competition exhausts are insanely expensive from factory

Those setups sound crazy good for sure! I had a the comp muffler too before this aftermarket one, loved the tone 🔥. I’m just gonna ride this setup for now - too lazy to change it again 😂

Did they just send you some prototypes to see if they built an equal length without the 2k rasp ?

Yeah, sorry if I didn’t make that clear, they want to find a solution with their build to get rid of this resonance specifically at 2k rpm

Sucks to see that the new virgins weren't able to fix that 2K rasp. I know they're not going to give up and we'll continue to figure out what needs to be done for that

4:02 bro im experiencing the exact same issue now paired with m performance exhaust and it sucks! To spend the money I spent on these equal length midpipes makes me want to sway away from the brand completely. I’d rather not purchase more AA exhaust products trying to fix the original issue in the first place. These products should be solutions not creating more problems.

Yeah it’s not a fun noise and takes away from the whole driving experience. I don’t fault AA for this, but in the meantime switching to single did fix everything for me. Hope you find a setup you like. Like you said, these parts aren’t cheap so I get that 💯💯
