Why the bandwidth is chosen at 3dB points. I mean any specific reason to consider at 70.7 percent of maximum

This is a very good question. 3db bandwidth is chosen because at this frequency power delivered to the load reduces to 50% of its max value. Abow 50% power we consider ON state of any device. The voltage gain at this frequency is 70.7% or .707 times of max voltage. The same is the effective value or rms value of an ac signal. You know the importance of rms value...
