Active Release Technique Shoulder
Here we demonstrate active release techniques for the rotator cuff in a post surgical pitcher. Active release is often very effective in treating GIRD or an internal rotation deficit or addressing pain. We often use this approach when doing manual treatment especially when aggressive mobilizations aren't indicated or when taking a break from posterior inferior mobs.

Thank you for this video. I see I'm a little late to the party since this was posted years ago, but maybe I'll get lucky & someone will answer this question! I'm curious about what causes "internal rotation deficit," besides a post-surgical lack of ROM. I am an LMT, and I notice most folks have plenty of internal rotation/rounded shoulders. It seems like these techniques could benefit them as well, though. Do you disagree? I know generally they need help releasing in the anterior body, but they often have a good deal of adhesions in the infraspinatus. Thank you!

Good treatment to prevent valgus-extension overload at the elbow, and future injury requiring Tommy John surgery.

A little better view of change after treatment would be helpful. Camera person needs to understand what is important to see. Great techniques!

I'm a muscle specialist, I would have went at this in a different way, I would absolutely not have his arms propped out like that they would be by his side then I would work the rhomboid muscle and surrounding muscles I'd get over to the terries major the trapezius the serratus anterior, and workout all of the issues the inflammation with the rhomboid with the terras major with the serratus anterior then I would spend at least 13 minutes on the neck and of course to even out the body I would work the erector spinae from the base to the top I would do the same procedure on the other side of his body but coming back to his right side at least four times during a 1 hour session that's what I would do. 😉

That's more general for the surrounding structures I typically will touch on all those areas you mentioned then get more specific into the rotator cuff follow up with similar work this guy is doing along with jt mobilizations.
