I follow 5 different channels. I spent a couple bucks for Ian with Stitch Method, Marty Swartz, Chris Sherland, and spent the most, $12 bucks, on Sean Daniel for a 1-month course of 46 lessons. I'm joining Brian's annual offer next month. What sold me was his new camera angle and his excellent teaching ability.

@@jayogden773 thx I have. At first he seemed to be showing how to play certain chords. Put his guitar up close to camera. Later seemed like he was selling, to hard his Patreon Guitar Wisdom for $10 per month. Agreed he’s great. Another is a kid from Seattle that’s computer savy, Scott Paul Johnson. I downloaded his how to use caged system to play solo.

@@RANDOG1951 It sounds like we're on a similar path where we're both trying to gain as much fretboard knowledge as possible! I agree with you on Tomo. He's getting a little off course with the "selling"! I'm really digging the Active Melody lessons though! I've filled my mind with a lot of info, but ultimately want to be able to play freely in any jam situation. Not quite there yet, but strongly seeking! Have you checked out Paul Davids too?

Hi discovered your channel a few months ago. You have helped and given me so many ideas in your lessons. My guitar skills have improved immensely. I don’t usually comment on videos but this lesson for me was so great I had to thank you. I am a “lefty” and seeing the lesson from a lefty perspective was so helpful. So thanks, going to have a look to see if you have other lessons with this perspective. Love what you do and will be watching and learning regardless, 👍👍

The lesson is pure gold!! but this new angle you are using for the recording is terrible Brian. It is confusing, your right hand can hardly be seen and your left hand is difficult to follow. Think that if nobody is using this angle for this sort of videos must be for a reason. Still you are my favourite guitar youtuber!

Right now I am in the process of learning where all the notes are on the fretboard. I agree. Its like standing behind your instructors back, looking over his shoulders to see what he's playing. Its just the opposite of how most of us learned in the first place, whether it was sitting there with our friends or watching a video of Jerry Garcia playing. Or whoever playing it just seems so much easier looking at it straight on. I don't know maybe over time it might catch on but I'm just so used and it's ingrained in me that I learned looking straight on to it

Not quite "sold" on the camera angle. Everything I've ever learned, as I'm sure most of us have, has been by looking straight on, whether it be from a teacher or a video on youtube. Thats really the only way I've done it so maybe thats the reason I'm finding it difficult to follow at first. I don't know how awkward it would be standing behind your instructor and looking over his shoulders to see how he plays it. This angle is basically doing that. Who knows, maybe over time id get use to it but for now I find it a bit difficult to follow.
@activemelody3 жыл бұрын
I really don’t understand how it could be confusing . It’s literally what you look down and see. I guess I’ll stop doing them though because there are enough complaints. It’s easy set up for me either way, I honestly thought wit would be better looking down at the neck as opposed to straight on.
@derickg14883 жыл бұрын
@@activemelody Thanks for your reply Brian, I didn't say it was confusing. I believe I said its awkward at first after having learned by watching people, friends, instructors, guitar players, etc straight on. I see why you did it and I'm sure there are plenty of people that like that angle. For myself, it is just new that is all. I meant no disrespect whatsoever and didnt think my comment would lead to a response such as this. Just like anything new, it takes an adjustment period is all.
@activemelody3 жыл бұрын
@@derickg1488 my comment isn't a complaint.. i'm just trying to understand what people want. It's just as easy for me to film it either way.

@@activemelody thanks again Brian. I didn't think your comment was a complaint. The thing with commenting on a forum is that we don't get to hear the person's intentions, so to speak, to so easy for folks, including myself, to misinterpret what the comment was intended for, if that make sense.
