Could you also do a roundup of your favourite swimwear designers?

Totally agree that Greenstyle Patterns are the best. They fit so well. My favorites are the Embrace sports bra and Tempo tights. I have multiples of each.

I haven't tried the tempo tights! Definitely want to

I'm so excited about this series! You make me want to finally tackle my sportswear plans (which have lived in my head for a while). I have some patterns and a have the materials I need, I just have to get going! Thank you😃

I have made 2 of the Greenstyle Endurance Sports Bras. The fit was perfect. I have plans to make more of these and also the Flare pants pattern. The Spark is on my wish list. Looking forward to your next video!

More great info here. I've sewn with Jalie, but not Greenstyle yet. However, I've purchased several of Greenstyle bras, tops and a skort pattern. Greenstyle is having a Memorial Day weekend sale so I bought the Cali, Cami, and Duet PDF's.

Absolutely brilliant series! I sew all my own clothes but have not ventured into active wear as I've been unsure about materials etc so this has really helped. Thank you

A timely series as I've never made activeware before, but very keen to start. From a year of working out with ill-fitting RTW workout pants (I'm forever pulling up my pants - too low rise - or pulling down from under my bust - too highrise😅). As a 5'2" pear-shaped short wasted body type, I carry my weight and size on my thighs and low hip with a narrow waist. Plus some of those racer back bras would be great under some summer dresses I have considered.
@StephSewn9 ай бұрын
As a fellow short waist gal, I can confirm how much more comfortable leggings are with some rise adjustments 💕

I love your series about activewear, one of my favourite topics in sewing! I just bought the Spark Tights the other week and sewed them up. My only concern are the many seams in the crotch area. I wonder if this will cause chafing on long runs (2h+). Do you have any experience with that? The Softshell Jacket by Jalie is a very nice pattern, made it as a jacket for biking. The construction is very clever and everything goes together smooth, but the fit is a bit too loose. The many size options are amazing, so helpful if you want to grade between sizes.
@StephSewn8 ай бұрын
So I actually have pretty sensitive skin, but haven't had issues with the Sparks (both regular overlocker seams, as well as coverstitch version). I wonder if having the two seams reduces the pressure and movement Vs a single seam.

I have not tried to make any activewear, but you are inspiring me. I really need some looser stretch leggings for climbing. I also want to try some sports bras. I like the idea of being able to customize the size for my body! I completely agree with the viewer who suggested more close-ups of stitches and also stretch tests of those stitches.

Love Greenstyle Cavallo leggings ❤ also a fan of Pattern for pirates, they have great leggings and other athleisure wear. And Maid for mermaids (I think M4M and P4P are sisters). Great comfy clothes at both of them.

I'm curious to know if you''ve tried Fehrtrade patterns and your thoughts if so. Thank you for your videos, they are so organised and the information is presented in an easily digestible way.
@StephSewn8 ай бұрын
So I've not tried Fehrtrade, although I've heard good things! I'm under the impression that she's no longer doing activewear patterns, so wanted to showcase things which were more up-to-date ❤️

I got a bit overwhelmed looking at Jalie patterns before so this was a very helpful starting point! I do aerial hoop, it's not particularly high-impact but I've discovered that long crotch gussets are important to me (add that to things I never thought I'd post on the internet 😂) I've browsed Greenstyle but not committed to anything yet, but maybe soon!

I can imagine how mobility is so important for aerial work!

I love your videos! They're all so thoughtful and packed with resources and this one is no exception! I love Helen's Closet and the Avery leggings - I have made them to be more loungey but am planning to make a more athletic version soon! I also love the Seamwork Tino leggings and the Megan Nielson Cottesloe swimsuit top, I've made that as a compressive low impact sports bra and really love it. I also have my eye on the Made for Mermaids Tinsley dress for tennis. Will have to check out Green Style for sure!
@StephSewn8 ай бұрын
Ooo I haven't used Seamwork in years! Do you like their patterns?
@estilobyelizabeth8 ай бұрын
@@StephSewn I do! Sometime they really hit the nail on the head, even if the styling in their promo images isn't as appealing or fashion-forward as other indie companies! I don't love alllll of their designs, but some are really solid and a great canvas for customizing - plus they have so many resources. I really like the Tino and also the Wallis, which can be made as a romper or a dress (kinda like those exercise dresses).

I used to have a pair of stretch jeans that were moto-inspired as a teen and I loved them. I've always wanted to recreate them. Did you have to alter the pattern piece when you created your leggings? I imagine you have to make it longer...?
@StephSewn8 ай бұрын
Hey hey! So my recommendation here is twofold. First, I altered the patter piece to have a side seam (I didn't want the moto panel to go all the way around). Then, on the new "front" piece, I split the pattern into three (upper,middle, lower). It was the middle piece I did the pintucks on. Rather than try and measure exactly, I just pintucked a large square of fabric, and then cut my panels out of that so they'd match. Then, just assembled as normal! The breaking apart of the pattern probably sounds more complicated than it was; you can see an example of a similar process here; helensclosetpatterns.com/2020/01/17/avery-leggings-with-pockets/ Hope this helps! DM me on Insta if confused, and I can send you pictures of the pattern piece shapes

That was extremely helpful. Have you made actual bras? Being a hard to fit woman, I am interested in learning about bra making in general. I will definitely try out some of these sports bras.
@StephSewn8 ай бұрын
I have actually not made full on bras (honestly I have not been blessed in that area lol). However, I can vouch for Madalynne Intimates. She is so knowledgeable, and her patterns cater to a wide range of sizes / needs in a super clear and accessible way.
