What sucks is a lot of these builds were designed with RCE backdoors, when the mod dropped a lot of people started receiving torrents from the people that distributed without even toggling a download. Looks like fun but I wouldn’t even launch it on a VM.

@@aroxyzz of course the game is playable, the problem is remote code execution. A large number of legacy COD titles have been deemed unsafe due to code exploitation, thus requiring third party launchers or mods like Plutonium to patch those bugs. If these mods or launchers are not actively maintained, they fall into the same place as the original game. To bring it full circle, the dev team for MW2R Multiplayer was already shut down prior to “launch”; the only way the mod released was from a leaked private build for streamers, intended to market the mods impending release. That means if any sort of bug/exploit is found, there is no-one home to fix it. Yes the game is playable, but will it be active later down the line once some niche community starts hacking lobbies? It will look exactly like trying to play the original unmodded unmaintained cod servers. It may be fun for you but idk man id rather just play something thats not potentially going to make my pc someones botnet, seedbox, or coin miner. Lol

The only thing I don't like about this mod is probably removing majority of CoD4 weapons, especially DLC ones - they are fun weapons ngl, wish it was up to servers to ban them to make MW2 only experience. But overall - I'm glad community preserved this. Wish sm2 was saved as this one :/

What sucks is Activision probably only did this because the mod was releasing near the time Black Ops 6 is going to be released, and they didn't want thier OG audience to drop ship for a free mod that provided everything the OG players wanted. I hope the Black Ops 6 boycott happens and Activision goes back on thier Cease & Desist, and the H2M team can regroup to officially release and support the mod.

Activision has only taken action against community-made projects tied to MW2. SM² relied heavily on MW2 content; IW4x was a MW2 client; The BO3 MW2R mod needs no explanation; HM² was a MW2 total conversion for MWR, etc. When SM² and IW4x were both hit, I originally thought they were doing so because of MW2023 and how that game leeches off MW2 nostalgia for 90% of its content, but... in retrospective, it's obvious the real reason is solely due to the scrapped MW2RMP they never released. Activision just wants free money for whenever a game flops, like how the original MWR was released alongside the poorly received (initially, at least) Infinite Warfare. It's exactly why IW managed to be the top selling game of 2016 even through its massive negative reception.

What really happened is mwr doesn't have public mod tools, infact it goes against activision TOS, and newer games are not allowed to have mod tools after bo3. Hence why you still see modded clients for waw-advanced warfare. It also takes assets from a not public game that is not for sale on steam, modern warfare 2 campaign remastered, so what did you expect? What they really should've done is try to make mw2r in BO3, but apparently people are allergic to common sense and don't do their research. It's really annoying.

Unfortunately even though the mod came out it is essentially dead. I was excited to play this and downloaded it only to find out how annoying it is just to get in 1 match. Only around 600 people playing. Im in NA and half the servers have bad ping. The ones with good ping are full or have reserved slots so you cant get in. When you do finally get in one it is halfway trhough the match 90% of the time and the lobby disbands after that match. There are also people with cheats already. Although the mod still released it is essentially unplayable.

@SINfromPL it definitely was not dead before release. I dont think it was a coincidence that modern warefare remastered was second top selling game on steam the week the mod was supposed to come out. And thats people who were willing to pay for it. The problem with it is since activision sent the c&d some of those people dont know the mod still came out, others dont want to risk downloading a virus torrenting the files and another portion is in my boat that wont spend 20 minutes looking to get in one lobby. Activision killed it for sure with the c&d unfortunately.

No, simply nobody really cares that much to play old cod for more than a week. Literally not a single person who learned about project shut down, is not being aware of it actually releasing. Dont have audio at work, but the guy who claims to receive C&D isnt entirely transparent. He claimed the C&D stated something along the lines of it would impact BO6 sales, which after IGN investigation, turned out to be complete BS. To this date, noone has seen the full C&D, and apparently nobody even wants to - they all just want to hate on Activision. Check out these giant COD hating tubers, now being excited about upcoming BO6 again. COD community is extremely cringy. MW2 is dead, and H2M is already dying. It had more hate than it could ever possibly have players.
