Activists accuse the force of illegally detaining them

Human rights defenders and environmental activists have filed a lawsuit against the government and 10 police officers in the High Court, alleging violations such as illegal arrests and detentions. The plaintiffs, including over 192 human rights defenders, youths, civil society groups, and oil-affected communities, are involved in campaigns to promote human and environmental rights, which they claim continue to face violations. Represented by their human rights lawyers, the group accuses the police of infringing upon their rights to peaceful demonstration on these issues.
