Activity of the Lviv perinatal center during the war: only the facts

Our perinatal world is wonderful!
Over the past 37 years, we have performed more than 100,000 deliveries of different levels of complexity.
Nearly 5,000 children are born within our walls annually , with almost 10% being born prematurely.
We have it all for safe and comfortable childbirth - a team of highly qualified and motivated specialists, a cutting-age equipment, a spacious premises, and a great empathy for patients.
Everything was stable until the war broke out in Ukraine... Sirens, explosions and chilling fear for loved ones have began... Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, more than 500 Ukrainian children have been murdered with over 1,000 being injured. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian women had to flee their homes in search of help and shelter.
Since then the Lviv Perinatal Center has provided healthcare services for over 1,500 internally displaced pregnant women.
Our Breast Milk Bank, the second donor milk bank in Ukraine based at a perinatal center.
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, preterm babies born to internally displaced women have also received donor breast milk when needed.
Over 800 liters of milk have been collected since December 2022.
Every week, the Bank's piggy bank is replenished by an average of 8-10 liters.
We have 52 donors cooperating with us. The Breast Milk Bank is the best investment in the healthy future of premature babies!
Preterm infants are provided with comprehensive neonatal care in the pediatric intensive care unit and at the second stage of nursing. And if necessary, resuscitation is performed on newborns in the delivery room, on the pulsating umbilical cord.
Despite the war, we opened new important departments in 2022 to provide comprehensive medical services for both adults and babies. Since October 2022, the Regional Neonatal Screening Center has conducted more than 60 thousand free tests for 21 genetic pathologies for infants from 7 regions of Ukraine. Children with confirmed genetic diseases have the opportunity to correct their condition and receive treatment at the Department of Medical Rehabilitation of Prematurely born and Young Children using early intervention methods.
The Assisted Reproductive Technologies Department effectively treats infertility of various genesis with a success rate of over 60%. The war didn't stop gynecological and breast examinations, gynecological surgeries, pregnancy planning and management. Because love and strength of spirit win!
