very detailed review, nice job! To your suggestion on remote: 1. remote uses 2 AAA batteries, so it's very easy to get these batteries in gas stations or just pack couple in your backpack 2. if you ever lose the remote, you can order one from our online store and pair to the board 3. for your safety and your cellphone's safety, cell phone cant control the moving of board. Happy riding!

Acton.....are these suggestions (2 replacement AAA batteries & re-order from online store) mentioned in your documentation? Also, I agree with other reviewers that it would be nice to get some indication that your remote is dying before it actually conks out on you.

I bought one for a 1000 bucks, and i want to say DO NOT BUY IT, it's terrible quality, the customer service is terrible too. After only 5 months it was already destroyed, there was no lights, one motor left and all the screws were almost destroyed. Please save money and DO NOT BUY THIS, it was the worst decision to buy this crap.

Who is this paid sponsor responding?? Thats not awesome AT ALL!!! The only way to check your battery life is through a app that you have to struggle with to connect and Acton is "working on it" meaning 2year later it will improve. Even the cheap Chinese brands can check battery life on remote or board.

About the turning radius; you can loosen your trucks and get much easier turning. Most boards come with trucks overly tight for transport in the box, but loosening them a little will make a huge difference. My longboard turns more than that.

I just purchased this as my first e-board. I haven't used an e-board and am expecting to use this for work in NYC and will need to carry it with me inside office buildings from stop to stop. Not sure what the best way to carry it around with me throughout the day. Also concerned about if I should get caught in the rain and what could happen. I've done my homework and feel this will be an excellent choice but any feedback from others certainly is welcomed. I'll advise after I receive and try the board.

Nice review. How does it feel pushing on it like a normal skateboard? Do you feel a lot of torque? Or can you use it like regular skateboard? I have the Blink lite with one Hub motor wheel and it feels fairly normal when pushing with no power. One of the things I love about Acton. :)

GREAT video, thank you! Have you been able to go faster than 18mph on it? The weight is pretty significant at 15.lbs - have you found that to be a problem?
@thatsginter
@thatsginter 7 жыл бұрын
+David Vogt I hit 19mph briefly, but think a slight breeze helped. But didn't have issues getting to 18mph in pro mode on smooth flat asphalt. Board weight is only an issue if you have to carry for long periods. Otherwise have no power problems myself. Can climb parking garage ramps at 15mph. I weigh just under 150 though, so that could be a factor.

Make sure you didn't miss the shipping verification email. I also ordered mine on Nov 3rd and haven't gotten it yet. thatsginter pointed out in another video that it went into his Promotions tab. I searched there and found that I got a verification email on May 16th. I just responded and they told me "It will be ready to ship to you by end of June or worst case early July". It's messed up if it go delayed because I didn't see the email. Acton should use a different account for verification so it doesn't get sorted as a Promotion by Google.

Thanks! I don't think I'd personally pay full retail price...but my needs are less then what others may be. I think it's worth it if you are using it everyday as a primary commute vehicle, sure, but looking ahead, I believe electric boards will drop in price as more competition rolls in. If you look today, there are a lot of new electric board options out there springing up.

Can I ask why you picked the Blink S2 Since I'm deciding what to get
@thatsginter
@thatsginter 7 жыл бұрын
Great question. I liked the initial specs and cost compared to everything else that was available on the market at the time. When I was looking last year, any decent board with good range and power was well over $1k. The cheaper boards didn't have the best reviews at the time and didn't have the proven track record that Acton did. Specifically, I liked the distance, incline, and having a tail (as mentioned, most long boards don't, but ya...i see the lou does!). IMO, it will really depend on your needs. It's heavier then I thought, so I don't know if I'll travel with it, but if you want a really fun, long lasting board with power, the S2 is great. If you just need a small light board for that "last mile", or some nimble city manuevering, something like a Lou board is probably better.
@rossfledderjohn

Have you weighed the board at all? Curious to see how much it actually weighs considering Acton recently stated that the S2 would be heavier.

Hey there, first of all nice review considering is your first electric skateboard and you covered everything I would have thought to include in a review. Other than the fact that is not removable the batterie (which is ok, just read it on other comments), but what I'm wondering is how stable / smooth to ride in rough roads. I would appreciate a lot if you tried it and tell me I'm planning on buying one and is a considerable factor for me. I'm not asking for the board to be able to go through rocks or anything, just like rough pavement/road or not a smooth road at least. Thanks in advance. Cheers
@thatsginter
@thatsginter 7 жыл бұрын
+Rodrigo Guerrero Thanks! I wouldn't recommend it for rough roads, but I wouldn't recommend any skateboard that doesn't have mostly smooth terrain. Despite the large wheels, it's still not enough for rough, bumpy asphalt. I tried riding in an unfinished worn parking lot and it was not enjoyable.... even at high speeds. Your feet go numb from the vibrations lol. Better to stick to a bike.

at least they fixed the brakes on this, with the blink S models the brakes are either OFF or ON! FULL! you can't just gradually apply the brakes so I have to be ready for it anytime I brake. I get used to the crazy braking at least but if it was gradual i could safely make it down long hills, instead of picking up too much speed and slap on the brakes to bring it down safely again. rinse and repeat.
@thatsginter

an you drive it easily when the motor is off? or does it got a lot of resistance?
@thatsginter
@thatsginter 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say there's a ton of resistance, bit there is some. It's noticably harder to use as a normal skateboard when the motor is off/battery dies - mostly to the weight, but not as bad as a dead belt driven board, those skateboards have more resistance.

What's the water durability? Can you ride it in the rain or on a puddle?
@thatsginter
@thatsginter 7 жыл бұрын
Supposedly water resistant, but living in a desert, I won't have much to worry about. Personally, I always avoid puddles and rain, even with a regular skateboard. Water gets absorbed into most wooden decks, and can ruin your bearings.

I understand that its an estimate and range will vary. Just checking to see if the app just isn't updated to show different approximated ranges between the S and S2. since Blink S users probably see 7mi at full charge and so do Blink s2 users.

Everyday, the app reported 0.3 miles left. No airline will allow this on board. I've called and asked. They don't want that liability. The FAA will allow up to 160wh, but leave it up to the airlines discretion to allow it or not. All of them say no, I've asked the major companies. Youre best bet is a board under 99wh or under. Airlines like the concept of a removable battery as well. The linky or mellow would go on a plane, but the mellow is too expensive and who knows when the linky will come out.

I bought one for a 1000 bucks, and i want to say DO NOT BUY IT, it's terrible quality, the customer service is terrible too. After only 5 months it was already destroyed, there was no lights, one motor left and all the screws were almost destroyed. Please save money and DO NOT BUY THIS, it was the worst decision to buy this crap.

that is the right attitude. I didn't make the comment to heart your feeling but more about to think about every think you put on KZbin compte and if I spend 16 min watching your stuff it must be good otherwise you will have waste my 16 minutes and lost a viewer. I was not talking about the content I was just talking about how your video had been made. Again: best of luck!

If this is the first electric skateboard that you've ridden you can't give a proper review. Electric skateboarding is awesome but people want to know how it comares to other electric skateboards on the market.

+Brecht Vandenbroucke I agree, and that's why I mention that fact a few times. But it is a first ride review, and meets the expectations of the marketing (at least for me). So, it literally is a true, first time ride review of the product. I'm sure some comparison videos will emerge soon, and I too am curious to see what others with more experience think.
