Dinmukhammed Kanatuly Kudaibergen (Kazakh: Дінмұхаммед Қанатұлы Құдайберген, Dinmuhammed Qanatuly Qudaıbergen; born 24 May 1994), known professionally as Dimash Kudaibergen, is a Kazakh singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is university trained in classical as well as contemporary music, and is known for his exceptionally wide vocal range.[1][2][3][4][5] He has performed songs in twelve different languages.[6]
Although offered a position at the Astana Opera, he decided to carve out his career in contemporary music, mixing classical elements and traditional Kazakh music with pop music.[7]
He gained significant popularity in Kazakhstan and other post-Soviet countries in 2015 upon becoming the Grand Prix winner of Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk, Belarus.[8] He rose to fame in China with his participation as a "wildcard competitor" in Hunan TV's Singer 2017 (Chinese: 歌手2017)[9] finishing second overall.

This is such a beautiful song. I was particularly impressed with this performance because he sang the ending WITHOUT his microphone....a testament to the power of his voice. Dimash performed this during his time on "Singer" in 2017 (which I think is his most exquisite performance of this song). And then, he performed the Japanese version (Ikanaide) for the Tokyo Jazz Festival in 2021. Hugs to you, Cedric.

Autumn strong is the version in Chinese of Ikanaide, this song is based in a true story about Yoshiko Yamaguchi who was born in China, hid her japanese heritage under a chinese name, became very loved. After WWII, her heritage was exposed, she was arrested, accused of being a japanese spy, and sentenced to death. She was ultimately cleared of charges, but was advised to leave the country, as she risked being lynched. Dimash is a master of the story-telling, his voice makes you feel deep emotions and takes you there where that song happened. Beautiful!! ❤️🎤🌹👏👏👏👏

I have listened to Ikanaide so many times, it is one of my favourites. Although the melody is the same the words are quite different and the words shapes, length and sounds in Mandarin necessitate alternate phrasing and emphasis. This was beautiful and compared to his performance on I am Singer was masterful. Of course then he was much younger and singing in Chinese for the first time made him nervous. Now his experience and more mature voice and stage presence make it an even more incredible journey for us.

Cedric, it is always a pleasure to see your analysis and reaction. I note that you realized afterwards that this shares the common melody with the Japanese version Ikanaide. The lyrics are different in the two languages and Dimash interprets both beautifully. 👉This song is very popular in China. The version based on a true story... very touching: It is about Yoshiko Yamaguchi (*1920-2014), a Chinese-born Japanese actress during World War II. She hid her Japanese heritage under the name Li XIanglan and became famous in China. However, when the war was over and she revealed her identity, she was accused of being a spy. She was deported to Japan and longed for China. Ms. Yamaguchi did not return to China until many years as deputy environment minister in the Japanese parliament. In 1993, Jacky Cheung adapted the Japanese song into Chinese Mandarin, calling it Late Autumn. The most famous interpretation In China (first performance at the Singer 2017) was that of Dimash Qudaibergen and it was his first time to sing in Chinese mandarin and is about autumn, farewell, sadness ... but also about accepting the unchangeable. This song brought Dimash the 'Best Foreign Singer' award at the Golden Melody Award 2017 (equivalent to the Grammy) in Hong Kong. The Chinese (Autumn Strong) and the Japanese version (Ikanaide) have totally different lyrics and meanings… and of course Dimash sings both very differently. - The Chinese version shows the image of leaves dancing in the autumn wind as a metaphor for how fate affected Yoshiko Yamaguchi's life. ...sad but inevitable and irrevocably - The Japanese version does not want to accept the loss, is full of pain, pleads, suffers ... heartbreaking. You should react to “Ikanaide”. Dimash sings here, in Kiev/ Ukraine in 2020. That’s is the last concert from his world -tour ARNAU before Corona everything paralyzed. The Dears gave him a traditional Ukrainian shirt and Dimash wore it to everyone's amazement and delight at the opening of this concert. (whole concert on Dimash's channel) ARNAU - that means 'Dedication' because Dimash dedicated this tour to his Dears. Unfortunately it will be interrupted for over 2 years. The next concerts of his Arnau tour took place after more than two years in spring 2022 in Düsseldorf / Germany and in Prague / Czech Republic...
