As a talented singer and daughter of a harpist, Jessie grew up around performance. Moving to London when she was 17, she honed her craft by appearing in musicals and singing at jazz clubs before eventually getting into one of the world’s leading drama schools - RADA. When she graduated, Jessie made sure she remained curious about the stories that she personally wanted to explore. For Jessie, it’s important that you keep doing the things that you enjoy while still telling human stories connected to the world around you.
Jessie remembers receiving the script for her breakthrough feature role in Beast while she was on-set shooting BBC’s War & Peace. She remembers reading 20 pages and thinking, “Blimey, I have to be a part of this.” For Jessie, it’s rare to have such a reaction on reading a script, which makes it all more important to pursue those opportunities when they arise.
As Jessie’s career on-screen develops, she looks forward to the opportunity to grow as an actress, knowing that she can’t go wrong as long as she feels out of her depth, and as long as the stories she’s telling say something about the world around her.
