fun facts about this movie: *Jim Carrey at the beginning of the shooting was in pain wearing the makeup and costume. So they brought in a CIA specialist who taught agents to deal with torture. And it worked. * The make-up was done by Academy Award winner Rick Baker, who also did "An American Werewolf in London, " "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes," "Coming To America," Michael Jackson music video, "Thriller," "Ed Wood," "The Nutty Professor," The first three MiB movies, "Mighty Joe Young" and "Hellboy." *For the post office scene in which the Grinch switches the mail, Carrey was in a sound booth to dub the "Jury duty, jury duty" line. *The "6:30, have done dinner with myself. I can't cancel that again." was ad-libbed. *The table trick was not supposed to happen. Every was supposed to fly off. Not only that, but it was done in one take and Carrey just improvised knocking everything off. *The bit when the Grinch acted as a director for Max was Carrey riffing on the film's director, Ron Howard.

It's very sweet of Martha to have kept those jewels for so long. Says alot about her character. Also you can see in her face that she has alot of regret for not doing more to help Grinch he was hurt when she could've. And those old women were horrible parents. They didn't bother to look for him after he ran away.

It's never clicked before (I may have seen this only once or twice since it came out), but when he's going through the phone book shouting at each Who individually, it's actually very possible/likely that "loathe entirely" *is* aimed at the Mayor since he's in the 'A's and the Mayor's name is Augustus.

I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!" Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with The Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.

My gym teacher from last year at my school I saw him today at Cocco Cafay and he. Dressed up as the Grinch but he didn’t have the Grinch face I think he cut it off and he had the same thing on his back I think it was the dog his name is Max and my brothers name is Max he’s from. Clariss Jim Carrey stated during an interview for new Sonic 3 that he is willing to do a sequel to this classic on one condition: use motion-capture technology instead of wearing full Grinch makeup. As you know, Jim went thru hell during filming. Ron Howard even had military specialist helping Jim deal the torture of wearing the makeup. If sequel happens, Jim will join with Andy Serkis aka Gollum & Caesar plus others as who used motion-capture technology.

In real life Jim Carrey didn't like doing this movie because of the hours of makeup, prosthetics and that it was very uncomfortable. ( it's something he talked about in a interview )

There are definite some *mature* elements that are inappropriate, but I never noticed them as a kid, so I loved the movie. I'm still really fond of it, even when seeing the lewd and crude elements. lol I know some book purists really hated it because they loved the cartoon version - I mean, in Robot Chicken, Seth Green used an entire skit to complain about the movie. Yet it is an adaptation, and there isn't enough material for a feature. In the book, the Whos remain positive and happy no matter what, yet I like the whole materialistic trappings and consumerism of the film Whos; that way, both the Whos and the Grinch have character arcs. I liked the more development Grinch and Cindy Lou's friendship gets in the film. Some didn't like the Grinch had a reason to hate Christmas in the movie, but I think it's fine; gives more depth than him hating it for no real reason. Regardless of liking or disliking the film, can't deny that Jim Carrey was amazing as the Grinch. He delivered the chaotic energy of the role and the comedy, managing to be over-the-top without becoming tired for the audience, but also managing to give some little moments of humanity (well, Whomanity) that was in the Grinch.

Yeah the designs are all goofy and cartoony, but the colors are desaturated. I get it’s meant to be so it’s more colorful and heartwarming at the end when it all brightens up. But dang they could punch it up in the first scene at least.
