When asking People to sing in New York City at the Hudson Yards Station, I was able to meet many talented and friendly people (not only from NYC!) "Only in New York", Atika (one of our new friends) said after seeing our sign and having me, a random guitar player in a subway station ask her to sing.
As a musician, I'm all about creating musical experiences that have people feeling happy and free, and that's why the "Sing With Me for Free" series exists. Since 2018, I have asked thousands of random people to sing with me on camera. A lot of people have said no, some have said no initially but changed their minds to yes, and some have said yes right away. I ask these people to sing with one purpose: to create a way for them to experience a sense of happiness and freedom they did not feel before. And much of the time, this actually works (and that makes ME happy).

I can't really sing, but one of the more memorable nights I've ever had out was several years ago when I cajoled a street guitarist that also sung like an angel in to singing Arlo Guthrie's City of New Orleans. I was mostly just humming and trying to harmonize with a few lower notes. By the end of the song there was about 10 people singing and it ended up turning into an impromptu street choir and several more songs. Things like this that bring people together are just fucking beautiful. Keep doing what you do!
