The main issue I see is that HVAC companies who are accustomed to dealing with heat pumps and furnaces have been selling and maintaining internal combustion generators. I question how many of these techs know what they're doing. Personally I think forklift mechanics or even the air compressor mechanics have a better setup overall and higher pay. And they work indoors. Years back I was a young engineer and got stuck with overseeing maintenance in a big warehouse. The forklift techs (who worked at the dealer) got paid way more than me and had no boss in their face. To a lesser extent, same for the air compressor guys. But I've been out of that game for years, so perhaps things changed.
