Ma'am it's a trend going on bankers lunch break and timings, but in most of the branches (almost 90%)there is no sufficient staff to follow all these impractical norms and rules. I work in BOB and truth be told, I keep getting harassed by these kind of customers who ask me to work during lunch hours. We all do lunch at a single time to avoid inefficient work. If a staff member leaves for half an hour, it becomes difficult to do efficient work, as it requires at least 2 staff to do a single task i.e. one for entry (by clerks) and one for verification (by officers). And even after that, it is not possible to work smoothly with multiple customers standing in front of you at all time and abuse/threaten/humiliate/physically hurt you for any fault. Point is, most of us will help anyone in need with everything we've got but if as a customer you're unreasonable and don't treat us like a human being, we won't give a flying fuck and call you after lunch. Most of the customers are good people and human beings who understand this situation, as they know practical life is not a rule book and we all need a lunch break like every person on this planet. And whoever made this video, kindly ask a banker why lunch hours are like this rather than shitting on bankers just because you saw "SBI Lunch Memes" over the internet and started spitting half-assed knowledge without any insight whatsoever.

Soo true. My elders worked in bank. The amount of torture they went through, I have seen it in my childhood. This is the reason, I joined corporate job instead of secure bank job. Only some people know ground reality of bank politics, rude customers and mental pressure. And called them with slang words when most of them are elder people is bad. I agree that bank employees show their frustration on customers its bcz if some miscalculation happens they should pay from their pockets. These people will wait for hrs in other government offices but not in banks. Sad that some people are there who are abusing bankers, they are chutiya people. Anyways we should not give importance to their stupid opinions. No need to bother bcz we know and we respect bankers. And Happy that people are there who know reality of bankers.

This is such a sensitive issue for bank employees, if they are cashiors and clerks, they have to pay from their pockets bcz of some miscalculations, and hurry customers. And if elder people comes and blames the cashier for their own mistakes. Even we had to pay 50k, 30k many times from our own money bcz of these miscalculations.customers won't understand that their hurries are only givng bankers extra pressure. On the top of that, the bank union and caste politics will be there, and if you're a kind person your colleagues will take advantage, no fixed time, mental pressure, no work life balance and people will think you're enjoying life. I thought managers have less pressure, but after your comment I feel that pressure is on every employee. Even for family members it gets frustrating when they are going through so much pressure and also no time for children. Keeping their mouth closed in the fear of transfer. But still nobody understands or shows empathy to them, all they think is government job. That's it.

As per bank's circular clerical employees are entitled to a lunch break for a time not more than 1 hour and not less than 30 minutes. You also should not forget that different employees do different works in a branch. Passbook printing machine is usually only available in the cash counters. In many small or medium branches there is only one cash counter. If that employee is on lunch break some other employee who is sitting in another counter who might be doing kyc updation or ATM apply or any other miscellaneous work may not be having a passbook printing machine. For customer's convience banks have installed self-service passbook printing machines in almost all branches. If the employee is unavailable you can use that service instead.

The video itself misguiding. RBI has asked bank employees to have lunch in phased manner. So that service may not be hampered. But it's not a blanket rule. I would really recommend you to do the same "passbook printing" and that to by skipping your lunch when there is no other staff available for rotation and you go for lunch at 2:30 while the so called RBI goes on weekends and leaves the office by 5:00 pm.

@Mani are bhai is rule ko agar follow krega bank then aur jyada time waste hoga , like agar cashier lunch krne gya then cash waali line pe bheed lg jaayegi ,uske baad pasbook waala lunch pe gya then wha pe bheed lgegi. So isse jyada time waste hota hai

Labour Laws is another thing mentioned in Constitution which is higher than RBI, if a worker is working for 6-8 hour there should be a lunch break, Employees don't say anything because they don't want to otherwise points unke paas bhi h, and they know to deal with more people like you
