The first generation of DDR-5 motherboards and Memory controllers will probably suck at memory compatibility and cause a ton of issues so I'd think this motherboard is going to be highly preferable for memory overclocking since the DDR4 is extremely matured by this point and this motherboard has only 2 dimm slots therefore memory overclocking on it will be far more fun than any new generation motherboards for like at least a year or two anyways...

I kinda like copper heatsinks. Yeah, it's overkill, but it commits to it. Harks back to heatsink beasts like ASUS P5E3 Deluxe/Premium. The fans are silly though, there's better ways to get some airflow over there.

I'm considering buying one of these as I plan on keeping my recently upgraded 11900k from my 10700k, it OC's okay and I plan on riding a few generations out like I did from 4790k to what I have now... I'd like to think this would be an upgrade from my z490 MSI edge, then add 2x 360mm rads as opposed to 1 240 and 360.... Plus the fact with the copper heatsinks do look gorgeous

@@-eMpTy- This is $600 board, but the Asus Maximus XIII Apex is also at the same price in Newegg. If you are paying the same price, that copper heatsink is a big plus though. I get Buildzoid's rant of wanting a cheaper board , but this is a niche market, with less competition and volume, the manufacturer will milk as much as they can from the consumers.

that's the VRM heatsink a lot of lower end boards need, nope, lets put it on the VRM that doesn't need it when it's frosted over from the LN2 in the CPU pot, lol. also a lot of manufacturers add fans to the VRM, cuz cutting/extruding proper cooling fins on aluminum blocks is hard apparently, lol.

Coming back to that heat sink topic. How are You going to cool the VRM while using LC / AC with only an aluminum heat sink without fans? I'm afraid that a longer session with the OC could unnecessarily bake SPS. Copper is unnecessary, the fans can stay, but they should only turn on when the temperature differs from the desired values. I would narrow this radiator a bit so that the fans could breathe.

Huh. I'm surprised you're not more positive about triple BIOS. Just like with RAID 5 vs 6, it's too easy for something to go wrong while using the redundancy and end up with nothing (not as bad as RAID cos new BIOS chips are easier to acquire than replacement unique data), having that extra one means you've pretty much got to be a belligerent moron to end up with no bios working. I'd say it's a log scale rather than linear for extra bios chips (that immediately hits ceiling of diminishing returns), but.... that would be wrong and silly but it's sorta true, I think.

Why does evga insist on making ugly motherboards? Remember some of their older boards? Minimalist with tons of grey and black, but still classy. Also why do they constantly make boards with cool features like u.2 ports, but then just release a revision 2 with the u.2 ports nixed? Or probably even worse, they release a decent looking board, and then release a revision that looks like they didn’t care what it looked like.
@__aceofspades3 жыл бұрын
No thanks. Premium board for a dead socket. Alder Lake leaked benches already show it out performing an 5950x in MT and ST in cinebench, and leaked European pricing have the 12900k cheaper by a large margin than a 5950x. EVGA should've just skipped AM4 at this point and made an AM5 board
@NotThatGuyJD3 жыл бұрын
Dude you realise he's reviewing an LGA1200 board right? Like absolute valid points of just going to AM5 instead of AM4 unless it's mostly a test run on getting their AMD Bois and stuff running correctly on a known platform with plenty of things to pull data from so that so their AM5 board can come out swinging straight out the gate. Also AM5 is still awhile out, not particularly long but a while still.
