You need a K-Swap!! And for brakes do Type R calipers, cheap and will be as good as wilwood. Only do a rear sway bar, and all the bushings, other than that standard stuff, coilovers, exhaust. Check out our Civic track build if you need more ideas.
@gonzoe1237 жыл бұрын
What about disconnecting the rear sway bar? I have heard from a lot of road racers and avid auto-xer's that they disconnect the rear sway bar to keep the inside tire from lifting.

@speedacademy7 жыл бұрын
Disconnecting the sway bar will cause understeer in 95% of FWD cars so unless someone has set their car up to rotate with the rear bar disconnected then I would suggest against it since having one to get the car to turn-in is so much more beneficial.

If you want to build it for autocross, read the rules first. In SCCA, the mostly stock Street and Street Touring classes are the most competitive. If you do too much, you'll just end up in a class with no one else and not having anything to gauge your performance and improvements off of. And too much doesn't mean make it to fast, there's certain mods that despite not making much of a difference can put you out of class, like too big of rim, too fancy of shocks, etc.

I’m a big fan of building Integras. I remember a dude (not in blue) put a Gretty turbo, intercooler, exhaust, and tune on an LS integra. Long story short is he was blowing everyone away on race night. The low compression ratio was perfect for bolt-on turbo. Also, I remember a beautiful all motor GSR that was amazing and fast.
@jackwatson89667 жыл бұрын
I'm super hyped to see where this goes especially since i know that you will build this integral right, not the stereotype Honda boys with a straight pipe and -12 degrees of camber, which not my style but you'll actually get to use the car for something fun and you'll learn along the way too. Again congrats David and we're all excited to see how you build this project car.
@dropinbiking927 жыл бұрын
I'm really glad you picked an Integra as a project car! I've owned 2, have driven several others, and have worked on plenty. None of my friends understand why I say they are such good cars. As a starting platform, they're great. Lots of options if you want them, perfect size, a bit of luxury, and some extra weight with all those options (Which isn't a bad thing when you want a reasonably quiet smooth drive) They were so popular when they came out for a reason. Fully independent suspension with the awesome rear trailing arm design that Honda went away from with the RSX (Due to $$) Rear discs, front and rear sway bars. The perfect starting platform for easy, bolt on suspension upgrades. TLDR; The Integra is an awesome chassis to start getting into project cars or enjoyable street driving cars.

I’ve waited for this day for such a long time! I’d like to give you my opinion, possibly some ideas and what ive learnt 3 years into ownership of my Integra Type R. - Exhaust, i have a custom 2.5” exhaust with no cat 2 resonators and a Mugen Twinloop tip on it. Its an awesome set up, does not sound like a lawnmower at all and other integra owners are always intrigued with my exhaust set up. - Wheels tyres, i fit 16x8 +30 TE37’s on stock guards with a mild rear roll, 225 45 16 semi slicks and about 2.2-2.5 degrees of camber. For yours i would definitely go 15x8+30 or higher RPF’s like Miata fitment with some chunky 225’s - Suspension, all up to yourself i run bilstien circlip suspension (give this a google) they are amazing everywhere for the price, not to sure of the availability of them in the USA vs New Zealand, id love some Fortune Autos with custom rates in the near future !

For bigger brakes, use Mini cooper non-S rotors and type R calipers on the front and EP3 calipers on the back. Don't spend the money on wilwood brakes that you can only put big wheels over. Speed Acadamy has the same brake setup as i mentioned with good pad compounds and have no troubles with braking. Also, consider this. with the mini cooper/type R brakes, its all off the shelf components available at most auto parts stores. Wtih wilwood stuff you'll spend a week waiting for new pads and rotors to show up in the mail. Save the extra grand you'd spend on wilwoods and put it into good coilovers and swaybars. +35mm is close to stock offset. Id' suggest an 8 inch wide rim. Look at 6UL's from 949 racing. They're made for Miata's, but fit directly onto honda's. +36 offset, 11lbs a piece. for $160 a piece. Get a set of stock Type R sway bars. Thicker than the LS ones but not overkill. Just my 2 cents from owning, daily driving and being active in the integra community for 10 years. Hope you read this and save yourself some money where you don't need to spend it. If you'd like more info I'd be more than happy to pass on what I know and have learned from the community. That's the true spirit of being part of the car world.

Let me throw my 2 cents in since I just finished a type R rep. integra..... Get a set of coil overs, BLOX ones are on sale atm if you check speedfactory.com etc. Sort out the rear end. Stock they understeer, the stiffer you get the rear the more oversteer it will create. I would go with a rear subframe brace and a set of lower control arms and MOST IMPORTANTLY NEW TRAILING ARM BUSHINGS! Then upgrade rear sway bar to a type R sway bar. Change the front control arm bushings along with new compliance bushings. The front stock sway bar is fine. Get a traction bar for the front and then Finally do the wildwood caliper conversion in the front. The stock rear disc brakes work perfectly fine. All that you should have a pretty well sorted car that will handle. I would do a simple Vtec head on your LS and it will pick up some good power tuned on hondata. Budget car and it will be a blast to drive.
@hondapromehmet91567 жыл бұрын
Esp. for autocross make sure you get a good set of R compound tires. A rear end that stiff will cause snap oversteer. You will need to learn to drive the car differently, around a tight corner if you come off the gas suddenly the car will snap oversteer. You need to learn to drive into a corner letting off the gas slightly, but you still need to give it partial throttle so it doesnt snap oversteer
@Jaydee6.27 жыл бұрын

Civic/integra’s are sooooo easy to work on, he could’ve done everything they discussed. Plus why the fuck would you get a hondata s300 for a bone stock teg? 🤦🏻♂️

I love that you're doing a Acura build

I’m not a big fan of Acura but I’m really excited for this project, mainly because I missed out a lot on your mustang and Nissan. So I would like to keep up with a project, so it’s pretty much a brand new project we’re I can stay on top of it. Much love from Atlantic City NJ

I miss my Integra GSR, such a fun car! My first boosted Honda many years ago :)

I think the main reason its cheaper to build Hondas is because they are easy to work on, so you can do everything yourself. Oh and just fyi, i'm pretty sure Hondata S300 is 499 when you ship your ecu (unless they changed something). Gonna be awesome build David!

Good sir, I give props any day of the week and I will continue to watch your videos but you need to think of something. The overall size and shape of a muffler changes the sound of the car. I have an OBX oval muffler and it's deep sounding. With that being said don't go larger than 2in with pipe size to keep the torque the "B" makes.

It's nice to see something different than drift builds.

Bolt ons, Brian Crower cams & Valvetrain with a nice intake manifold will get you up around 180whp on good compression with a matching tune. I’m at 175whp on a conservative tune without really playing with the cam gears

You should totally get a wood nardi steering wheel and shift knob to match your interior.

If you do HIDs in the headlights, make sure you swap the projectors out with proper HID based projectors. And do the 9011 conversion for the high beams. 🙂

Kyle's Weed Maps hat is pretty sick, I want one. Can't wait to see how this build comes out, should be awesome.

While you're doing suspension mods, replace all of the bushings including the shifter bushings. It'll make an entire universe of difference. Also, as far and Honda engines go, it's difficult to achieve a deep exhaust note all motor with free flowing piping.

Personally i would do polyurethane bushings all around from front to back. Makes car more firm but still enjoyable. Get the gsr 24mm front sway bar from the junk yard. Its easy to find. Get type r brakes caliper model 17CL15VN which are also found on Accords or some Legend models. With 23T caliper brackets. Base model Mini Cooper rotors Centric model 125.34100.

To stay proportional, if you go with the JDM square eye front clip you need a square body kit and rally wheels, (maybe even some 4 lug shurukens) taking ques from the square body 80's teggys however, if you keep the USDM bug eyes you'll need a supra tail light conversion, shaved trim, and all around rounder body kit. this won't be cheap either way but you look different at a racewars... or fit right in a Bosu lot.

I've been in the Honda scene for awhile. Give JHPUSA a look and you definitely cant go wrong with anything K-tuned. Avoid Skunk2 (Junk2). They're kind of a hit and miss. Hardrace makes some solid products, I ran there stuff on my 04 Accord V6-6. Just have to do your research and ask around on pages/forums. There will be plenty of different opinions in the Honda community. Just ask the guys who do autocross. Don't ask about coil-overs from a guy who has -30 camber or who drag races there car. Good luck, excited to see a Honda/Acura build from you!!

Skunk 2 front uca because that has the camber adjustment. Skunk 2 rear lca. Buddy club lower ball joints. Type r spindles and trailing arms. Acura legend brake calipers or nsx. If you want to stay b series just go type r if not than go k and I can give you a run down of parts for either swap and easy ways to get any of them. Exhaust I would go 2.5 inch with a vibrant quiet muffler.

Also it’s old and maybe hard to find new. The best feeling coilovers I ever had on the street for a Honda was function and form type 2. Everything cheaper like ksport or anything else in that price range is about the same. They feel horrible on the street and break fast. $1500 and up is where you will be where you get track worthy and better performance than the function forms

My exhaust on my EJ1 is a Jdm ITR cat, JDM ITR (mid section)exhaust with a 8th gen civic Si stock axelback. It makes my jdm D15b sound deep. The trick for no raspiness is to Keep the jdm OEM cat.
