I have a GCS-2, and with the right preamp it sounds every bit as good as a loud tube amp. I love what ADA is doing, and I love this demo! Great job man.

Matt Pacco Hi Matt, could you please tell me what's the preamp you're using?I'am loving the GCS-5, but for my ears something is missing in my sound and I think It could be a good preamp. At this moment i'm not using a amplifier. From my board it's going straight to my PC. Thanks and cheers from Brazil.
@mattpacco86597 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Yea the ADA definitely needs a good preamp in front of it to sound authentic. Like Burgs was using. For me the trick to getting a real tube amp like sound out of a direct setup falls on replicating the natural compression that happens when you get a good amp cranked up. It doesn't have to be dirty, but on the verge of breakup. I like to run a very subtle compressor in the front of my signal chain, then all my other pedals in line just like normal. Then out of my last effect (reverb) into a preamp, then into the cab sim. I have had great luck using a Nobels ODR-1 set clean, though just about any amp-like overdrive pedal can do the trick, some better than others. I didn't like the way the Box of Rock sounded in this application, but the Nobels (specifically a Midnight 30 Upstate drive) seemed to really mimic the sound of a vintage Fender. Cheers!

But can you use this box as a replacement for an amp entirely ?
@andre77coelho6 жыл бұрын
Tarsan97 not entirely .... The GCS-5 simulates only the cabinet, not the pre and power amp stages of the amplifier. for this you will need a Preamp pedal like those of Mooer, for example, or even an overdrive/ distortion(I already tested and it was very good). The GC-S 5 also serves as a direct box. Take a look at the this link, I think it will help you. www.google.com.br/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=www.adaamps.com/Media/GCS-5%2520USER%2520MANUAL%252070141x%2520v.0.1%2520a.pdf&ved=2ahUKEwiukZO27PXZAhUGHZAKHdqnANcQFjAAegQIABAB&usg=AOvVaw0jj3b9U41RcO_ACdEPeB4p

I was wonder can this be ran directly into a combo amp like a pedal? Im looking to change my amps sound a little but it doesn't have an effects loop on my Blackstar ID260 2X12.

Hello! Great demo. I think this is great option for a cab simulator. One question: Can I use this with a V4 Countess preamp pedal from Victory amps? Like you do in the video with the Mooer preamp. I don't understand if that will work as a regular amplifier. Thanks!

Great review, Thanx. Just received my gcs-5. So, I've tried this connection: Guitar > pedalboard (boss MS-3) > gcs-5 XLR output > PA Unfortunately a big noise is coming from the speaker. It's a rustle strangely too loud. Tried the same connection but using the output jack of gcs-5, and the noise almost disappeared (some noise still remains because the PA system) Do you think is it a normal behaviour? What can I check to eliminate the noise? Thanx

Excellent demo!!! Using my ADA GCS3, which clean channel Mooer preamp is best to run pedals through with my G&L Comanche (very strat-like) in your opinion? I’m torn between clean channels of 009 and 012 unless you recommend something different. Thanks for your time
@Micah_s5 жыл бұрын
I have the 004 day tripper. It's great with pedals on both channels. It is made after the vox ac30, so it should take effects well. And it does!
@465marko5 жыл бұрын
Probably a stupid question, but if you were using the GCS-5 by itself, does it produce much crunch/distortion? I'm thinking you'd need to get that from the pedals in front of it, just not 100% sure
@andresvelazquez23605 жыл бұрын
The GCS-5 only provides cabinet simulation, so if you plug directly into it you'd be essentially plugging your guitar into a speaker. Any preamp/Poweramp flavors must come from either your amp or pedals. Hope it helps! :)

how if use the ada with this routing ( input ADa - speaker out from head , thru - link TOcabinet and the ADA XLR OUT - mixer ? it works or not?? somebody please give me answer 😣😣
@adaamplification21056 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works! But you have to have the 20dB PAD engaged.
@adaamplification21056 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question. Our GCS-5 cab sim was specifically designed for this setup. Connect the SPEAKER OUTPUT on your amplifier to the GCS-5 INPUT (with 20dB PAD engaged); connect the GCS-5 PASS THRU to your SPEAKER CABINET for onstage monitoring (this is necessary, as it provides a load for your amplifier); connect the GCS-5 OUTPUT to a mixing console, PA, DAW ect. Set your levels on the cab sim using the LEVEL control and you are good to go!
