It's all about having the ability to afford meeting your needs and wants. Without anybody interfering with your life decisions or you expecting anyone rescuing you in kind. No matter how, we have to take responsibility for self at 20 and up (if healthy). It's up to you how that is accomplished and living goes on. Retirement is just a word or number bc you'll keep on living life job or no job.

Or what my investment options are, getting a high yield savings but that's about it. 😊 Send help. Knew about fire a little bit but not much, heard it in my twenties but didn't do much just a couple of CDs that I have since used.

At 62years of age I was one step from the highest pay range in my job description. This is why the company was willing to have a buy out of employees in the highest pay range, NOT COGNITIVE DECLINE of over 60 yr olds. Name the study you quote and the reason there in. Don't believe the "capitalist" you are running away from, most likely it's not the mind that fails but the body. Something you can look forward too.

I'm 6 minutes in and I'm going to try to keep listening. But I resent the idea behind that millennials are about hustle culture because we are living in the now and aspire unattainable, opulent lifestyles. I do think that millennials are about the now more than the future. And we do hustle but not super frequently because of the lifestyles that we want to maintain. It's for survival on a basic level. Every age group has privileged groups. So, I know that exists. However, I think that millennials a whole are hustling that hard because there's literally no other way for many people. We need multiple jobs to survive and I say this as someone with a paraprofessional job in a professional field. Most millennials are stuck in the stagnant wages and the high cost of living. We en masse can't afford to buy housing, forcing us to accept that housing will always become more expensive and most private sector jobs don't offer a pension. Even company matching for 401ks are contingent on you as the employee making payments 1st. I literally just had to buy a new car and looked into maybe just moving to mass transit since my job is a 10-15 min drive to work and found that it would take me hours on the bus because we don't have a solid mass transit system and it's not safe to walk (there's literally signs that say to not cross a big intersection near my house on foot). I think it's easy to look at the fact that I just got a car and assume that's lifestyle based but it's a requirement to work. But I also believe that it's dangerous to paint the overarching picture that our money woes are based in frivolous, lifestyles when we live in places where it's illegal to collect rainwater and the police pour bleach on community gardens. As a whole, we can't live any cheaper. Edit: I've watched more and I really loved Adalia's thought provoking questions about this. Adalia is killing it as usual.

@AdaliaAborisadeАй бұрын
You would absolutely have to pay income taxes on that $25k. It would probably bump you into a higher tax bracket for that year as well. Instead of doing that, just fund a Roth IRA if you meet the income requirements.
