More than a co-worker, more than a friend. It was a bond they had. I still watch Adam-12. I wish life was like this again. Times were much better back in the 70's for sure

I still LOVE these guys .. I'm 58 years old and when I watch Adam 12 I feel like I'm a little boy again .. I watch this video every night before I go to bed .. I cry a little bit and then I say a prayer for Marty and Kent and their families .. they loved each other in real life and both are outstanding family men .. total class acts all of the time .. they Love America and all law enforcement professionals .. God Bless You Marty .. You are still loved more than you can ever imagine .. God took a great servant from us because it was his time .. even heaven needs a good cop .. 🙏

They are! 61 police officers shot and killed in the U.S. in 2021. 99% of police officers are just like these 2. In real life it's not a game or a t.v. show. These men and women have to make life altering decisions in a split second. Everyone else gets to pass judgment sitting in the comfort of their home. Not being there and not knowing the details of events.

I watched Adam 12 and Emergency (Squad 51) growing up. Both shows had a significant influence on my calling to be a police officer. After 30 years of service I hung up the belt and watching this video takes me right back to those days of watching it as a young person. I do miss the simpler times. Thank you to Jack Webb, Marty and Kent. I wonder if they had any idea of how many career paths they influenced.

Back in 1969 my friend Norman and I would play Adam 12 in the junk cars behind his house. One time there was a hornets nest in the car we picked. We weren't very brave police officers then by golly. Because I was older I was always Malloy. We loved the show back when it was prime time and I love that it's on re-runs on MeTv at five O'clock week days.

When Martin Milner died in 2015. Shaaron Claridge the voice you hear for dispatch. She was a real police dispatcher in California. Following Milner's death on September 6, 2015, Claridge broadcast the "End of Watch" transmission over the LAPD radio recognizing Milner's performance as Officer Pete Malloy in Adam-12. That was a very classy thing for her to do!! She died awhile after that at the age of 79.

If the series ADAM 12 were being made from the year 2000 and forward, I believe the great friend and partner of Police Officers would occasionally be seen as two persons shaking hands or even giving and receiving enthusiastic partner hugs, especially when one has been saved from imminent death - or some other very serious event. Perhaps it's written into police protocol that hugs are off-limits and inappropriate. If that's the case, that is a terrible shame. Another thing I've noticed as Pete and Jim worked together on ADAM 12 is that Jim frequently looks across their patrol car at Pete. Early on, while Jim was still a Rookie, I thought that he was looking for approval during what seemed to be a long period of getting used to the do's and don'ts of their job. After a while though, I came to see Jim's looking at Pete as showing respect, friendship, appreciation. It seemed really good that together, with their wives, they chose to go out socially. I just love this show as I do Dragnet and Emergency. I wish new and truly wholesome television programs in these genres would emerge - these men and women in the first lines of duty for humankind deserve support as never before. That said, I cannot at all understand why or condone, in recent weeks, the event occurred which brought an officer to shoot into the back of a citizen / parent, paralyzing him - SEVEN times he shot, and the person wasn't even resisting arrest.

On the flip side...it's a damn shame the lack of respect our officers are shown on a daily basis these days. Just as easy as it was for you to type how you would prefer officers like these two, it's equally said that we long for citizens like we saw on every episode. Did we ever see an officer get killed in these episodes ? Nope. Not even close. But in all fairness Cathy, the era this was shot in also had a lot to do with the attitude it protrayed, agree ? Peace, and thank you to all of the men & women who chose to serve & protect with honesty, loyalty, and a generous heart !! Peace.

@@aaronmichael7116 Your wildly wrong! Absolutely clueless. Ever watch "Elegy for a Pig" episode? Other episodes showed officers get shot. Also back in the days there was not a lot of respect for the police. What decade do you think they started calling cops pigs came from? If you watch Adam-12 you will see folks disrespecting Malloy and Reed. Yes it was tame, but that was because of the guidelines for tv shows at that time. They get into everything that happens within society, racial issues, child molestation, excessive force by officers, and so on. Every episode of Adam-12 was from actual LAPD cases, they were not written Hollywood scripts. One thing that you probably are not aware of back then was the Black Panthers were known to drive down to Los Angeles from Oakland looking for LAPD officers to shoot, and then drive back up to Oakland. I was in a patrol car back then and you are way off base. Yes, I was called a pig and lost friends because of it... Cathy Brown, you are so right. Most of the lack of respect today comes from Obama and all his comments about cops are a bunch of racists that are out to get minorities. Look at the escalation of violence towards the police after Obama became president and started spewing his hatred for cops...
