Congratulations on the ECMA song of the year for this one - well deserved!! I’ve been lucky to hear you perform it live three times this spring: at the Jay Smith benefit show, at one of the Rebecca Cohn shows(the Thursday one that sold out super fast) and most recently at the ECMA songwriters circle. Great to hear each time, along with the stories about it. Have been playing the Concertos & Serenades album lots. Sent a copy to my musician parents along with some writing about what I like about the album. And this video is excellent. So many details in it. Have watched it several times since it was released and it’s nice to see the comments accumulating

I recognized one of the actors from this video at the Matthew Good (and band) show last night in Halifax. It was nice to chat with him about this project and other music related stuff he’s involved with. Sounds like this video was a fun project to be a part of. (Not surprising!) He’s one of the actors in the scene of the Saturday night church hall gathering, and also in the final scene at the wake - he takes the gun away from the main character’s mother, using a handkerchief. I have watched this video several times as I think it’s really well done - locations, characters, details, the changing energy / moods, lighting. Plus I love this song. The person I talked with has done work with some other musicians whose whose music I really like - Matt Mays, Willie Nelson & family. It’s always great to chat with people who also love music and the arts, and who do work connected with it. Including taking about how it’s been excellent to see Adam Baldwin’s songwriting and solo career gain momentum. I went to the Alan Doyle show in Halifax in March where Adam Baldwin opened. It was at the Metro Centre and Alan mentioned it was the biggest venue of the North American tour they’re currently on. A full house, fun show, and such a happy crowd.

Yeap, and the production company that came in took liberties. Chasing down payments for use of property. Damages to property and so much more. Would be wise for Adam to disconnect himself from the Production company that came in. Cause they fucked over residence of Lousibourg to film. There was no communication or proper respect. So unfortunate. After all we opened up our homes and businesses for Adam. To stand behind him and promote him in this movie from his video. Still do. A talented man, Will he stand behind the people who did so in holding this production company to account for damages in his name. Small town politics.

Absolutely phenomenal! Musical artistry of this caliber makes me proud to be a Bluenoser. Great storytelling and visuals, too! At the risk of sounding like a critic, or like I'm trying to nitpick, the scene in the church at roughly 3:33 could probably have used a couple more extras, since the room feels empty when the camera shots aren't tightly narrowed in on the subject(s). It's only a small thing in the grand scheme of things though! Otherwise I'd call this damn near flawless.

I have to confess that I have not been keeping up on our wonderful talented local musicians lately. But I was listening to CBC the other morning while trying to exercise and hopefully recover some of my interests in playing and writing myself........ and they played your song.
