I love that Seth in the only host (I know of) that doesnt use cue cards for his interviews; it makes it so much more genuine. Keep up the good work! Cheers

Well, Hostess makes Wonder Bread, but they were purchased by J.M. Smucker Co. That means that l would be Marc Smucker, who is the founder's great-great-grandson. He is the President, CEO, & Chair of the Board.

So Karl and I are in Grumpys and he’s on his phone leaving a message: “Call me Ishmael! You unreliable phucker! I need you to help me to dig a tunnel from the Synagogue to Katz’s Deli!” and he stabs his phone and I say, what the phuck was that all about? And he says, “As you know, I have a second job as librarian at the Yeshiva, and I need a tunnel to get my daily Reuben Sandwich from Katz’s without leaving the building as my contract says ‘no lunch breaks’. It’s obvious isn’t it?” And I say, do you have City Building Regulatory clearance for that? And he says, “Who are you? The tunnel clearance gestapo or something!?” (What parallel universe am I in?)

Enzo Ferrari, by all accounts, only ever spoke Italian. Yet, Mann casts an American actor who speaks English in a bad Italian accent to play Ferrari. Dedication to authenticity my anus.
@Kitty879111 ай бұрын
Were you hoping Federico Fellini was still alive to make the film & use Italian actors, speaking in Italian? Okay, I'll be more realistic. How about Roberto Benigni or Paolo Sorrentino?
@idunnowhatimdoin11 ай бұрын
I can agree with the sentiment (Hollywood's exploitation of non-American stories while refusing to cast non-American actors) while still recognizing Adam's powerful performance and the film's merits.

Adam Driver is living proof that you don't have to look like Brad Pitt to succeed in the glittering cesspool of Hollywood. He's a *very* good actor, he's humble, nice, and SNL loves him. The *only* thing Kathleen Kennedy did right -- keep in mind that she has ruined and destroyed Star Wars with a metric fuckton of uber-feminist bullshit -- the *one* thing she did right was casting Adam Driver. He's a class act all the way.

It was certainly a choice, this characterization, but I rather *_like_* that instead of going for the cartoonish & stereotypical "Mamma Mia!" Tony-Baloney stock Guido, Adam keeps it pretty sober and measured here, and as far as accents go, this one is pretty subtle. He mostly pronounces everything _correctly._ He's only holding the t's, whereas native English speakers often aspirate their t's, articulate them as alveolar taps, debuccalize them into glottal stops, or just straight up omit them. In Romance languages, like Spanish and yes, Italian, the *_t_* is always constant, unreleased and dental. Many immigrants from these backgrounds still pronounce the t that way even after decades and decades in the US/UK, so this is not only realistic but a *_real_* linguistic phenomenon. In any case, the person he's portraying never spoke English, but if we're going to fault someone for taking creative licenses it should be the director. Acting-wise, Adam pulled off a very nuanced rendition. Just saying.
