Born Muslim but I wasn’t taught how to pray but everyone prays 5 times a day in my family . I am currently 16 (almost 17) years old . I reverting to my deen as I felt Allah SWT was guiding me to pray as I have been waking up just at fajr almost everyday for a while. I believe that He wants me to be closer to Him . If you keep waking up before the sun rises then that could be a sign that Allah is waking you for morning prayer. Especially if you’re not even Muslim, this could be you sign. It is for me. I just tell god before I go to sleep “wake me up naturally if you really want me to pray” then he does. It’s so cool !!!

It is said: Where are the fasting people? They would stand up, and no one would enter except them. the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said: “Whoever fasts a day for the sake of God, God will keep his face away from Hell for seventy years.”

I'm 35 years old and I have just recently started praying salah. I could have started praying salah even when I started puberty and reached being a teenager. I did pray 5 times sallah when I was about 10-11 years old but I used to go to mosque with my brother. Mash Allah I am very happy for you. Do you have a mosque nearby? You can easily go to one and ask to see the imam and inform him that you want to take the shahada. He will help. Also, it is always best to get advice and help from a masjid in terms of these things as opposed to the "internet people", unless they are reputable religious leaders and scholars, because there are just waaaay too many differences in opinion and comments from too many different people. Cultural differences amongst Muslims also play a big role in these differences and contribute to farther confusion. Just make sure you are following the Qur'an and the Sunnah and nothing else that so many people tend to mix up with the faith. I was born Muslim but come from a not so religious family and social circle. Plus I'm from a region that sorta has its own "hybrid Islam" which is super ridiculous at times. So as I am trying to grow in my faith....trust me I can feel how confusing and overwhelming it is and can be for a revert. But I also know we are being directed to the right path and Insha Allah Allah provide both you and me with the correct understanding and knowledge when we keep our intentions good. As a born Muslim, I do have an Islamic foundation and it's been 4 years since I started sincerely practicing and have gained a lot of insight from certain scholars. If I can be of any help to you, feel free to ask me.

I'll try find a mosque in the town over. I am also planning on wearing more modest clothing. @@maryielang Do you know any Muslims around? Try looking up Muslim communities and mosques near you. Listen...its a process. So go easy on yourself. Alhamdulillah that you started. That is a big step towards the right direction. The rest is a life long process of learning and implementing. Somedays your faith will go up and the next it might go down...but never stop. If you make a mistake, if you commit something you shouldn't...don't let that stop you and make you turn away. Say astagfirullah, repent to Allah for the mistake/sin and get back on track right away. As for praying, learning the right words etc...ask Allah to direct you to the right sources. There's is a du'a to gain knowledge - Rabbi Jidni Ilma meaning "My Lord, increase me in my knowledge". Make the intention to learn and grow and Insha Allah He will help you like He has been helping me. I basically learned and still learning everything about my own religion from online and scholars like Omar Suleiman, Mufti Menk etc. and Islamic sites like Seekers Guidance, Islam Q and A etc. I was born into Islam but was basically ignorant for a good chunk of my life. I am still learning.

I started off by learning how many prayers are needed in a day. there are 5 (fajr, duhr, asr, maghrib, isha). continued by reading with the videos together. when I felt a bit more confident with the pronunciation the first time, I started to pray with it even though I had to watch and read it at the same time (normally you should keep your gaze down when you pray but Allah (SWT) knows you’re still learning 💕). since you must pray everyday, you’ll understand the pattern. if it helps you, you can also write it down and when you compare all 5 prayers, you’ll realize the pattern even easier. it took me 3 months praying with the videos and afterwards I tried to pray without by remembering the pronunciations and the sounds. it was a bit tricky for the next 1-2 months without the videos but you can always go back until you’re 100% sure! and from then on I remember everything. never forget to also understand the meaning of what you pray ❤️ may Allah (SWT) make it easy for you, amin 🤲🏼✨

im 13 born a muslim with a not so religious father but a very strict religious mother which made me get attached to my father more. I always felt like praying wasn’t important and that i was always forced to pray even at a young age (9) i started wearing the hijab to please my mother but yet she wasn’t pleased i realised i don’t need to please her and i took it off at 13, i took it off because i felt forced and also i wanted to get closer with allah and truly understand the meaning of the hijab then i will wear it again inshallah.
