Considering how fun that video was to watch, it must have been stellar to see the match in person. Huge congrats to KK and AJ for beating their old partners.

It was great! I was there. It was perfect location too, it was near a little river in downtown Minneapolis. There was shade and it wasn't super hot. They had other tournaments in Minneapolis, but they were at street level and the sun reflected off the skyscrapers and made it way too hot.

Great stuff. The AVP was magnificent in these days 30 years ago. We used to get a tournament on Cape Cod near my house and that was glorious. No tournaments here in Massachusetts for since around 2008. Thanks for posting!

Incredible defense -- I feel Karch played more of a chess match. Any difficult on-the-net set or one sent away from the net, Karch released quickly to play a two-defender game. In today's game, you rarely see the blocker back off the net, and the real chess match is between the hitter and defender. Perhaps this stochastic style of blocking will be once again popularized by a team in today's game. After all, beach volleyball feels like a nascent sport with all its recent player-driven innovations, such as the serving of Adrian Carambula and the blocking of Anders Mol.

Back when sets were called and players actually had skills and got paid.
