Hello Angelina! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and explaining the many technical issues that lay people like me wouldn’t otherwise understand. Equally importantly, thank you for confirming/validating and so eloquently describing the magical energy that emanates from Adam! The fabulous Dr. Brian May was correct in calling him a gift from God. I’ve loved Adam since his Idol audition but only had the opportunity to see him perform live of late. I was in awe at a QAL show last summer and longed to be closer to him. Fortunately, I got a real taste of his solo energy at his acoustic show in Worcester, MA, in December and was compelled to trade in my less than stellar seat for his Foxwoods, CT, show a few days later for a 2nd row seat that truly allowed me to feel his energy... yes, he was mesmerizing! He absolutely created a different vibration “not just with his voice but with his being!” The experience was magical. I felt high, giddy, grateful. Yes, Adam is majestic! Please keep sharing your wisdom and expertise regarding Adam, our once in a lifetime treasure for his voice, his heart, and his soul 💚

One thing I note in Superpower is the combination of legato lines simultaneously with staccato delivery. Bouncing the words, vowels, consonants yet not breaking the flow. How can he do both at the same time? IN a future video can you expand on how he uses variation of vowels and consonant delivery for interpretation? (Like a time he sings "funk")... well, you know the word but I don't want to be censored. I cannot describe it, but you can. Brittle, percussive consonant K, truncated short UH, .... so much nuance, as you pointed out.
@TheSoundbath5 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your questions - yes, it sounds as though he's singing staccato but it's more of an emphasis which is why there's is still a flow. Now, I can see people have some interest in what I have to say here, I'll make a few more when I can, and explain a little more. I'm thrilled you enjoyed it.

This is wonderful. I don't know that much about vocal dynamics, but I do have a good ear, and I know Adam has ruined me for so many other singers; even good ones. I notice now when they go into falsetto, and it spoils it for me. Adam doesn't have a break in his voice, and it is indeed amazing. It's so easy to just take that for granted, but thankfully, Angelina has explained what he does throughly , and also explained that Adam's vocal abilities and control are very rare!
@TheSoundbath5 жыл бұрын
Hi brobbinsroost, thank you for letting me know you liked my video - I really appreciate it. Yes, classical singers learn early on to navigate the breaks seamlessly, but we don't expect to hear it in pop music, do we? Adam is changing the face of pop music for sure. ❤
@HarlemRain755 жыл бұрын
Most men singing falsetto in pop or rock sound like chipmunks or like some cartoon character. For example, I think Barry Gibb's falsetto sounds ridiculous. Is it just me who thinks this? I dunno, but the rest of the world seem to like it. It's difficult for me to identify when Adam is singing falsetto. He once said that people think he's in falsetto when he's not, that's how hard it is to identify for many people.
@TheSoundbath5 жыл бұрын
@@HarlemRain75 Thanks for your comments about falsetto - I've had a conversation with Adam about it and I speak a little about it in this video - perhaps it will clear up the confusion for you? It is a very distinctive sound and different from head voice. I feel Adam made that comment because most people have not had voice training and therefore find it difficult to distinguish between the two. But because Adam is so in tune with his own, and others' voices, he can hear it clearly and may be baffled as to why others cannot?

Would be wonderful to hear your thoughts on this one. Thanks again.

Hi redmaple96, thank you for your lovely comments. True, we don't need to know the techniques he uses to know he's something very, very special, right? But I find the more I understand what techniques he uses, the more in awe of him I become. Interesting that Closer To You came after this one. I'm actually going to do a review of Overglow, next. I might look at the other songs a little further into the future, but I'm so aware of not promising more than I can deliver. Thank you so much for this video! I’ve followed Adam since his Idol days and have loved his voice ever since. I’ve shared a lot of his music with friends/relatives and what I can’t understand is that not everyone has the same visceral reaction to his voice that I do. I’ve read somewhere that not everyone hears what I do and therefore they are not moved by his amazing vocal acrobatics. I’ve seen Adam in person many times now and whether it’s a smaller venue or an arena he has the ability to mesmerize me. So glad you will do a video on Overglow....it’s one of my favourites too.

Thank you for this video and the wonderful explanations of how he sings. It’s so apparent that he’s had great vocal training. And, has done the hard work of perfecting the techniques way beyond the average singer. I loved your comments about him charging the air around him. I met him recently, and he has a huge confident and positive aura that is a bit stunning. (In a very good way, lol) Can you post a link to order your book?

Thank you so much for your analysis of Adam's amazing gift. I've watched a few of your videos and read much of your blog about Adam's voice. Some of it goes over my head, but I do my best to understand what you explaining (and you do explain very well!!). I came late to Adam - as I only really discovered him in the middle of last year - however, I have been on a complete binge since then. The problem now is now I compare everyone to Adam, which makes it difficult for me to listen to other artists. I haven't read the comments on all of your blogs and videos about Adam, but has it ever been suggested that you might enjoy Adam's rendition of "Come to me, bend to me" from Brigadoon? It's a live voice recording from many years ago. I'd love to hear your view on that. I personally love it, but would like to hear an experts opinion. Thanks again for your video, I look forward to seeing your analysis of Overglow!

Hello HarlemRain75, thank you for your lovely comments and compliments - I appreciate it. Yes, I can relate to the idea that Adam has spoiled us and that's it's difficult now to listen to other singers. His voice is truly extraordinary. I love that you've read my blogs and that you feel it's helped you to a better understanding of his amazingness. I'm familiar with his version of 'Come to me, Bend to me.' I think I mention something about it in one of my blogs. It is a wonderful interpretation. Adam's voice has evolved so much that I'd much rather talk about where he is now - I hope you understand? ❤

@@TheSoundbath Yes I totally understand. I know a special voice when I hear pop or rock (even if I can't identify the technicalities of it all), but I can't really identify a good opera voice.... so I was just interested in your reaction because of that reason. But all is good! I understand where you are coming from. I just watched your most recent video on Adam's performances, looking forward to more when you get the time x

@@HarlemRain75 Thank you for your understanding. I know some people think of 'Come to me, Bend to me' as Adam singing opera. But it is still a musical theatre song and not opera. He plays with the sounds, though, and I suppose that's why some people have that impression. I have left my reaction on The Sound bath blog site when he sang a snippet from Nessun Dorma which is an operatic aria. Thank you for your lovely comments and for taking the time to watch, read and comment here. I appreciate it. @@TheSoundbath Yes one of my faves. Every time I listen to it, I have the same emotional impact. There are some other ballards that I feel showcase his voice. The rest of the world got to see it when he sang Believe. His voice can give me chills down my spine. I would love to hear him sing an aria. I have noticed that his delivery of the same song changes. I have always thought that singing the same song over and over must get hard so that is how he keeps it fresh. I also thought that is how you forget lyrics that you know like the back of your hand. You mentioned it as not being there, thinking of something else. He has had some trouble over the summer and recently in Korea singing, We Will Rock You. He flips the verses. If you get a chance look up MSG 8/7/2019. He came out and started on the wrong verse. He stops, laughing and then looks at the band and goes "what was that" and starts over. So freaking cute! I can't help but laugh with him. He is a superstar but still grounded and very caring!
