I thought I had fibromyalgia because the fatigue wasn't bothering me nearly as much as everything else that hallmarks ME/CFS. I've also become desensitised to fatigue as that is my baseline even if I've rested and paced everything I will always be fatigued. When I was diagnosed I was more concerned about pain and brain fog. I have chronic migraines too, I really convinced myself before landing on fibromyalgia that I had either had a stroke or a brain tumour. This is why the research you're discussing is dangerous, people like me need help, proper help.
