MAN. Never would've thought about that. Well versed in minor pentatonic (guitar player, guilty as charged) and have been struggling with making good Dorian ideas. This takes something I am confident with and pushes me into the chord extensions aspect in a much easier way. Thanks so much, Adam!

Great lesson! Thank you. I totally "got" how you related everything to the 9/11//13 chords. (I dabbled in jazz piano before focusing on base.) That tied things together nicely.

So in essence, you can play the Bb Major, or the Bb Ionian. Great lesson
@kythtrantham512110 жыл бұрын
No, he's talking about chord tones which have a very different sound than running up and down a modal scale. Each note of the pentatonic scale can be a solid landing point in this scenario and can be used with approach notes. Bb Major or Bb Ionian are also valid options, but a different sound. You should try both methods (or even combine both) and you'll hear the difference.
@byronsimon10 жыл бұрын
Oh yes. I get it. Not a linear scale, but rather a pentatonic scale of scale. Thanks
@georgechristiansen67859 жыл бұрын
byron simon He's doing the same thing as chord substitution, but with pentatonics rather than just chord tones. It's not modal thinking. It's chordal thinking.

Wait, the five of C is Bb not G. G is the four. Or did I miss something??
@BassCovers9010 жыл бұрын
No it is G. Bb is the 5 of Eb
@matalmike10 жыл бұрын
Jerritt Craig The five of the C minor Pentatonic is Bb. He states that at the begining, or did I miss something.
@grantsenior922610 жыл бұрын
matalmike You missed something. The 5 of C is G. Bb is the flat 7. It's relative to Cmajor, even though he's talking about Cmnor pentatonic (c, d, e, f, G, a, b, c)
@ummmummm56310 жыл бұрын
Yea ya did. It's G
@bassforkids45044 жыл бұрын
Bb is the 5th interval (note) in the C minor pentatonic scale and the 7th degree of the C minor scale.G is the 5th degree.
