That's my personal opinion, but I have the feeling, that the most climbers stay more concentrated when they are on lead and they give a little bit more effort to climb a route. They also climb more precise, because they don't wanne fall. For me it was definitely a step forward lead 99% of my route. I'm not sure if you are a gym climber and have so toprope there, but as an lead only climber you have never ask yourself again, if you wann toprope or lead a route. This makes it easier. So hope this was adequate answer to your question :)
