I know man it's so useful! I do something similar where I have a onenote notebook that I jot any idea that I have down in. Most of them are silly or crap but occasionally I'll have a really good one or think of an amendment and just write solidly for an hour or so. What is some of the stuff you have in your folder?

The line for questions was already formed before all the mystery guests joined, the people in line already had their question thought up for Adam also because it's an "Adam Savage panel".

17:05 - Er... no, Phil, weight is what we measure in _newtons_. "LB" is indeed wrong (should be "lb"), but it can stand either for pound-mass _or_ pound-force, so it's perfectly "correct" if you allow for a) the fact that it's in upper-case when it should be in lower-case and b) the fact that it's a medieval, non-SI unit.

Phil Plait makes it sound like those are the only units for describing mass and weight, while also switching from metric to imperial. Mass is the material property, measured in grams for SI (metric) and "slugs" for Imperial. Of course, nobody outside engineering has ever heard of slugs as mass units because almost everyone handles mass at 1g, so the weight is more useful as long as you're aware of where to use it in your equations. Weight (force exerted by gravity on a mass) in SI is in units of force, "Newtons" (N). Everyone, of course, is familiar with pounds as weight in imperial measures, but there is also a "pound mass" if you need such a thing (and which engineers all understand as "pounds"). Just be sure to understand what your equations require. So when the Bad Astronomer says mass is in g or kg, and weight is in lb, he's being bad at pedantry. Technically correct, but not actually helping anyone understand anything. Wait, maybe that's being good at pedantry.

I'm for all of the above. I first heard about it from their podcast and i was not disappointed at all when the episodes started airing, can't get enough of it and that behind the scene vid norm did on it was brilliant. From the rumors I've heard(from the BB subreddit) next year will be more of the same except it's going to be an open tournament instead of an invitational so there's going to be waaayy more bots which sounds good to me.

wolflordjsww I like both from an entertainment standpoint(completely subjective) They were both breathtaking to me as I love space movies. Seeing gravity in 3d really set the mood and atmosphere. But I absolutely agree that interstellar was beautifully made. It had some flaws in it but I can not think of a movie that has not. It was one of the best space movies I have ever seen and probably one of my favorite movies that has come out in recent times.

Really? Interesting. On my first watch of interstellar I found the plot to be more interesting than the plot of gravity though I found both movies great. We can talk about the science accuracy or visual beauty of both movies and compare them and argue, but plot wise, I found interstellar's to be much more interesting varied without being convoluted. I enjoyed it more. In fact, I was surprised he said he was not moved by interstellar but implying he was by gravity. I would have guessed the opposite situation, with interstellar having more emotional elements to generate catharsis.

Ciroluiro I actually fell asleep during Gravity although it's a much shorter movie than Interstellar and I was well rested. During Interstellar, I was just glued to the screen and didn't even want to blink.
@Tomyb15
@Tomyb15 9 жыл бұрын
Moxtrox my experience when watching interstellar was exactly the same. I find it difficult to understand how some people on the internet can hate the movie so much (not talking about Adam though). I feel like some of them just want to hate on it for some unknown reason. I do understand if they liked it but didn't love it or if they didn't like it because they aren't into sci fi films or long movies or story-driven films. But the furious reaction of some people towards the film is unbelievable. There are also people that overreact saying it was the best film ever and bash everyone that does not agree with them... Although they usually have good reasons to argue at the very least. (How can it have only 1 oscar while gravity has 7?!) Despite this, I did like Gravity, it had its moments of suspense and tension well established. However it had a bunch of moments that were very boring.

I doubt this would get to Adam , but you never know. Can you please convince Discovery to do a proper Season boxset for Mythbusters? The collection nonsense is dumb. There are DVD season sets but they seem to be really hard to find. Re-releasing them in a blu-ray set would be awesome and would save space since you can fit more episodes per disk, even if the early part of the show wasn't in HD.

Not only they are on the internet, there are "streamline' edits which eliminates Mythbusters' tedious format where you have to re-watch bits due to adverts or when a Myth is stretched out and chopped up to try to get audience to stay for the whole show. The best way to "support them" is by having Discovery and tuning in during the show as that's how they determine demand..

I feel really bad that Chris had to take time to sit up at this panel. He's so much more than an entertainer- he shouldn't be subjected to that panel. He was completely bypassed, and I feel like his intetillect was completely disregarded when in the presense of Adam. As much as I love Mythbusters, Chris worked really hard to get to where he is. While elveryone else on that panel is "famous" through dumb luck of being picked up by a network or having his book well recieved, Chris is the only one who truly made his own path to get to be an astronaut. He should be treated with so much more respect than this. Rant over.
