Everyone keep in mind Adam isn't trying to maim Chris. Hakka arts aren't meant for "sparring" or boxing you. They are meant to stop you, immediately viciously, and up close and personal. In reality, if Adam was using Hakka fist, Chris would be done in 1-3 moves and would not be able to reset.

I still don't understand why people fight square like that - look at the first punch that is blocked - if that was a fake, Adam would've been clocked by a decent boxer. And boxing concepts work in the street - instead of a fist jab, I'll use a finger jab to the eyes or throat - and I can throw it fast without telegraphing.

@@zhihonghuang5203 well to answer you're "square" pose question. It's natural. That's why in the 'hood, they say "square up".

@@zhihonghuang5203 I wouldn't say that Adam would've been clocked, because of two things, Adam wouldn't "have a stance" per say, so the opp wouldn't see it coming, number 2, Hakka fist speciality is, "plowing or mowing" threw an opps attack or defense. In reality, in Hakka fist world, it wouldn't matter if it was a fake, a punch, or defense, Adam could use the same technique, and because of the attribute and short power of the Hakka fist, the opps arm would be destroyed, no matter what the arm did. That's the difference between "western boxing" and "Southern Chinese martial arts"

Mr. Adam Chan I want to be the 2nd alongside House of Kungfu to say you are the best on KZbin. Your humble manner your incredible skillset make your videos a joy to watch. The speed and fluidity of your movements are just a sight to behold. I recently found Goksel Erdogan and I have found the 2 very best Wing Chun/Martial Arts icons I could ever ask for. I just wish I was a young man and had my martial arts life ahead of me. I'm 49 in October and I wish I was 19 again so I could seek you gentlemen out and learn from you. Best wishes so very much to you sir from Ohio USA.

We r always adapting & learning. I'm 66 yr still young. It's experience that helps & speed & a good teacher. Adam is awesome. I've been able to deal with people and students from 18-40 but still see myself as an embrion. If could set clock back Wing Chun would have been good to learn earlier alongside when training Shotokan than later.

Ah yes. The Cantonese culture of kungfu. I would argue that rooftop fights, challenging schools, and a time period of nothing else to do in terms of entertainment, kept schools sharp. Nowadays most people are hobbiests and this lack of pressure testing lead to this embarassing PR nightmare of kungfu not being effective.

If you go a little further back than that in history. Say about 150 years ago or further, striking eyes would be perfectly legal as long as you can justify your action. E.G. It was a duel both sides accepted(signed life waiver). Or if you were attacking a law breaker etc. Nowadays, if you do anything you'll go straight to jail so most people aren't willing to use what they learned and that leads to lack of experience. Edit - Actually, one great historical example would be Hakka vs Canton, when the Hakka people were hated throughout almost all of Southern China because they got into fights everywhere. None of them actually went to jail, the government did not ever step in either, the government let them settle things through martial arts and large scale group fights. These are not made up stories either, you can find it in lots of records written during the mid to late Qing Dynasty. Hakka people fought the Cantonese for 13 years without any government intervention, they've also fought the minnan people(fujian region) for a number of years. So lots of fighting experience using maiming and lethal techniques back in the day, but that stuff just doesn't work in today's legal system.

Been thinking for long time that wing chun, kali, silat, and many other southern and east asian martial arts, to philipino's, seem to be linked to hakka's fist, double blades, long stick and paddle.. Is there any documentation on this topic you know ? Wondering if some ancient penjabi sailors didn't spread some of those seculars seeds long long time ago..?

@Chr. I don't know where Punjabi influence had anything to do with the spread of MA in SEA, but to date silat is referred to as "Kuntao" which is the Hokkien dialect for martial art. And yes there are many similarities in the Arts you mentioned to Wing Chun or even Fu Jao (tiger). The history of Chinese presence in these countries goes back to the Ming dynasty when China was a super power & had a political role in their history.
